Bummer on the coil over leak. I was going to ask how you liked the new setup?

I giggled like a girl when the quadrasteer was revealed.

Favorite parts of the truck: Kids inside hamming it up, brake dust on the wheels, dirt on the frame and the dirt in the box.

It means you use it. That's what it's there for. It's why you built it in the first place.

If I ever run down through west Tennessee I'll PM you and see if I can come get a picture of this awesome machine.

Of course, if you ever run through Smyrna, I'd love to see it!

P.S. Are you running out to Knoxvegas for the power tour this year?

Thanks so much for loving my truck! I will not be able to hit the power tour this year.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

It took me a couple weeks but I finally read through your entire thread. Wow is all I can think to say. You have been gifted with great abilites and the resources to put them to work!!

Frankie is such a sweet truck!! The quadrasteer was an awesome touch as well. Amazing!

Did you integrate the entire wiring harness from the NBS donor? I am asking about brake lights, headlights, door locks, et cetera.

I have a 1987 GMC V1500 single cab long bed 4x4. It has great sentimental value to me and I am trying to do some work to it so I can DD it or atleast drive it more often.

I just bought a 2001 Silverado ext cab short bed 4x4 donor, pretty much entire truck minus doors, bed, hood, and a fender. I have been driving it around my property and making sure everything works right but I am now ready for my swap.

I would love to do a body swap onto the 01 frame and be able to get the ifs and the better frame & chassis. That is why I am here to pick your brain about how difficult it was to do and any tips or pictures that could help.

If I can't do my body swap, I do plan to integrate the full wiring harness from the 01, engine/trans, rearend, fuel tank, gauge cluster, steering column, pretty much as much as I can!!

Your thread is a great inspiration and motivator for what I want to do!

I have all the wiring there from the new truck, but I didn't use the headlights/tailights, wipers, lock, or power windows. Mainly because I didn't want to see the modern switches used to work them.

But you used relays for them from the nbs wiring harness? That's my plan oem switches for 87 but all run by relays

Nope, I just ran a hot wire to power the old fuse block.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Drew I just want to say WOW!!

I have been dreaming this truck in my head for weeks, and come to find out its been done. I was Googling images and ran across this truck and it led me here . So upon further Investigation I have decided to build one for a daily driver with a modern drivetrain and all the creature comforts I can pack in it.
my first truck was a 67 swb C-10, (small back glass, 406 aluminum head sbc, turbo 400 w/3200 stall and custom VB with a 373 posi-trac rear end). The truck originally belonged to my great uncle, which he bought new in 67. it was passed down to me in the late 90's and I restored for my first vehicle. so I really admire what you've done here.

I want to say that the build thread has made me want this Dream truck even more!!
I will call it project "Hell Cat" as my great uncle was an Ace fighter pilot in WWII and flew off the Yorktown.
so my build will be dedicated to him and I would love for him to take one more ride in a 67 before his last flight.

Thanks again for the motivation.

Congrats on the TOTM!!!!

I may PM you if have any questions on my build if that's ok with you sir.
maybe one day the two trucks can meet and have a little photo time.

I'll be posting up my build thread to help any others out there going for a cool play on these classic creatures.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Wow, what a build. My first post here.

A few questions, as I am embarking a similar project, but much simpler (just taking a 2003 quadrasteer 1500hd 4wd ccsb, and turning it into a cceclb)

Curious on some details:

1. How did you extend the wiring on the quadrasteer (or did you have to)
2. How exactly did you relocate the tie rods on the steering knuckles (that was genius)
3. Did the qs system freak out when it was turning sharper, or does it no monitor actual steering angle and just motor position?
4. Did you also retrofit the entire abs system? I am under the impression that's how the system (or one way) monitors axle speed.
5. What issues do you think adding a gear vendors overdrive (in 2wd only) that over drives the wheels 27% do?

I love your truck, and that you use it, and how each obstacle was approached and solved during the build. It comes to my mind, if you want it done right, you must do it your self.

I am looking to create my ultimate work truck, I just wished it could look half as cool as yours.

Amazing!!!!!

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, working on building a second beach house rental in the Turks & Caicos Islands to compliment my first "beachsidebungalow"

I didn't have to extend the wiring, I built custom brackets to move the pivot point, but now feel it was overkill/not necessary. QS had no idea it was turning sharper! I used ALL of the newer truck - ABS included. GV might make the QS a little odd, giving you too much steering at 10 of 15 mph - but you could get used to it.

Re: ** YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN ** The truck Chevrolet should have built.

Okay guys, time to kick this one back to the top.

The Bride of Young Frankenstein is coming.

She's in the shop now as we speak and we'll need to create a new build thread.

I may lose a few of my followers though, it'll be in the alternate tinkerings area.

How's that for a tease?
