Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd

Did you figure out what to do with the cowl along the bottom of the windshield? I've been curious for a while what you decided. This thing is incredible!

Re: Buried to Bagged 1972 2wd

Roadster cowl customization in 5 easy steps!!! I really hope this helps someone out!

Mark where your cowl should be cut to match the A-pillar.

Size: 35.0 KB
First the back portion of the cowl was cut off and relief cuts where made from the back toward the front. I took out about 1.25" at the rear and none across the center of the cowl. I cut out excess metal until both pieces butted together nicely. This gives you a flatter surface than stock.

Size: 35.2 KB
I cut out the fresh air vents on the cowl and replaced it with 18 gauge metal. I made the metal concave to match the cowl then used a shrinker/stretcher to get it to bend properly to match the compound curve from side to side.

I worked a little short hair fiberglass into the cuts then went over that with some trusty bondo to get it to look halfway decent.

After a small amount of sanding I got it very close but still feel a small dip where the inside relief cut was made. A little more pookie on it, and it should be good! For the record, I'm not a bodyman!!

Excuse all the junk in the background. Just wanted to post a picture showing the shaved cowl. It makes the whole truck look different.

I have been working to get the dash, door, fender, body and custom sail panel on the door aligned. This is turning into a hassle but it will be worth it in the end.

Hey brotha!! Been a minute!! Thanks for stopping by the thread. Way too much "life" has happened over the past couple of years that has effected my progress. But I think I see some light at the end of the tunnel. It may help me keep my sanity! Glad to see you are still on yours too!

Well, it happened again. Another project acquired to fix up and help fund this project. This time a F*rd. At least it's a cool F*rd. The 55 Bird.

Complete braking system, new gas tank, new fuel lines and a few small odds and ends. Maybe a little paint correction. But yes it is in really great shape and you would not believe what I gave for it.

I sure hope so! The market is down on Baby Birds right now unfortunately. Still should net me a healthy profit! Hoping for around a 17k profit!
