That thing looks pretty solid for being in SE WI. Most of them look like mobile cheese-graters around there. Nice!!

Thanks!! Yeah, you'll have to talk to my boy about that trade. I sold a turbo diesel 84 K30 crew cab that he absolutely loved and I'm not sure he has forgiven me yet, so I'll leave that negotiation up to him.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4

Thanks! Thats my personal favorite color on these Blazers. It originally had a black top but I always liked the white top so I changed it. Sometimes I think about putting it back black, it looks a little tougher to me, but the white sure looks clean, what do you think?

Re: post your 67-72 4x4

just finished getting my suspension lift done...air bags on rear axles(jeggs)...air shocks(monroes) front and back...gave about 2 1/2" (front) 3 1/2" (rear) , room enough for some bigger rubber...

tried to find a spring place to do it for me...but too much $$

actually the ride now is excellent too...wished I had done it a while ago!

and yes that is original paint...with a little Mequires helping out...living in Colorado all its life might have something to do with it??...LOL...

just did a full undercoating too...and just painted all lines and mechanical parts to help handle the new environment here on the Ocean...

next project is to repair the body/cab mounts...dry rot has caused a small sag...

Thanks but it was my friend who did all the work bringing it back from the dead. I think its from PA and my friend restored it in his senior year of high school. It just sat while he was in college and I had some cash.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4

Here is mine. It's a Frankenstein but it's mine so I love it. 72 K15 body on an 83 suburban k10 frame and drivetrain and an early 90s 1st gen vortec 350 swapped to carbed. These are when i got it and it was pretty rough. Driveable but pretty rough. Mods in process are lots of new interior parts including carpet and new paint and kick panel vent handles etc., tons of rust removal all over the whole body, engine rebuild and engine bay clean up, paint, new windshield, new back brakes, 4" suspension lift.....and it goes on and on....

The cab corner was almost rotted through:

New intake and new-ish carb:

New cab shell. The rusted one was full of mud and made the whole truck smell so bad:

Cleaned up a little and with some major dents pulled out:

Cluster pulled for refurbing and fixing the PO's crappy, poorly thought out hump mods for the range selector. When I bought it I had to reach through the floor and grab the transfer case to put it in 4x4:

So much rust to remove but gonna be so worth it:

How did they address the wheel base change and the cab mounts in using the square body Suburban frame?

Re: post your 67-72 4x4

As far as the wheelbase goes I have no idea how they did it but they got it all to match nearly perfectly. Its hard to to say they slid it back or forward on the frame because everything matches up pretty nice. You can see in the picture about the dents that they cut the frame in the rear. I'd like to say they cut around 18" off but again I'll probably never know.

The entire body is custom body lifted to the frame. They cut some pretty heavy duty 3" tubing in 6" segments and got the welder out. If I had started the project myself I don't know how I would have done it but I doubt I would have done it like that. In their defense though, the whole setup is pretty damn solid and tough. It rides like a brick but it's on there for good.

Re: post your 67-72 4x4

what a project you have...but when done , like you said...its all yours...and it will be something to be real proud of...I cant tell you how many friends and people I have met just because of riding my rig around!

looks like the chassis sets forward just a bit...at least on the front axle...which I think is very positive...more clearance for the front tires...I wish they came like that...the original CST's were never designed to be lifted at all...at least it seems that way, back then it was all utility...hot rods were the chevelles and camaros etc...trucks were all truck!

in some ways I wish mine was going to be painted...I really love the blue from '67...but its hard for me to justify painting what I have. thats pretty funny isnt it?...one thing, the interiors are easy to redo...all the aluminum trim is available pretty reasonable if you want from LMC or similar...

I repainted the entire interior of my '55 along with the exterior too...so when and if I have no projects on the board I will probably paint mine the "sky blue" that was original in '67...I cant afford two truck projects...I am building a boat now...and that is a whole nuther story!

good luck...would love to see the progress on yours...

note how far back the front axle is here on stock CST...and forward the rear is?? also the engine sits back farther than the C-20's did...supposeddly for front differential clearance...of course the 4X4 concept was brand new for Chevrolet back then...looks like your frame was set up with these things in mind??very creative for sure...and who cares about Frankenstein...I sure wouldnt...

the only thing on this truck(in pic) thats not stock is the lack of split rim wheels(no body will touch them where I live)the aluminum box and rail covers...and the spotlight...I put some chrome valve covers on until I can repaint the originals...also the oil bath air cleaner is being redone too...other than those items nothing else has been touched...

so moving the chassis locations was a pretty good idea...eventually Chev did it too...I think by '72 it was totally different...others here would know better...

This is the best side picture I have. It may show a little more of how the body lines up over the frame. I'll take some good side shots later and post them up.
