I don't have a camera. Sometimes when I need to take pics I get a disposable and only have it developed onto a cd. Then you can download the images.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Guess what goody the truck is now getting.....a tilt column...
I found several tilt columns so after I make the one for this one work (cause its from a van) I might start selling the van tilts that are ready to go on the trucks...might even convert some to 4spd tilts. So,if anyone is interested in a van tilt converted to a truck tilt,pm me....and you will go in line for one

Well, today I removed the drivers side bed panel from the old bed,and then hauled off the old bed.I also did some body work on the wheel tubs for the bed...Not much work was done, but any is better than none

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

And tonight......I finally got one wheel tub completely stripped of paint...if I had primer I would primer it but I don't.
Don't worry Eric, yours will be done in time....I'm just anxious to get mine on the road and drive it up to Indy for Super Chevy this summer and down to the Frog Follies in Evansville this August

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Update: I finally got around to installing shocks.I wasnt sure if I was going to use the ones with the lift or get different ones.Well,me being cheap I decided for now atleast that its going to use the shocks with the lift.I will probably get Rancho's when I change things after I have driven it for the summer and its apart for the winter to be painted.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Well,I have a decision to make...Ok,here is the deal. The tranny and t case are ready to go in.I have all the mounts and crossmembers in.Just need to get bolts and then I could bolt them in.Same for the motor mount crossmember, its ready for the motor. The bottom and almost the entire top end of the motor is done. So,I could wait till the motor is done, and install it....or I could drop it and the tranny/t case in now and finish the top end with it sitting in the chassis (the cab is coming back off). Now,the motor only needs the intake, carb, distributor, water pump, the starter, pulleys, and the spark plugs/wires installed. So,it wont be hard to do that with it sitting in the chassis.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

You really could do it either way. If you are waiting on parts for the top end slap it in and bolt it in for now (that way your still working on it). If you have the parts do it and then slap it in.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Nope, still no camera...I could possibly attempt to get pics from my phone on here but the quality of the pics would suck...It's really nothing different. It's just a cab sitting on the chassis at this point. But even the cab won't be on it for much longer as it's coming off to be worked on and primed...The only thing you would want to see would be the motor.Maybe you would want to see it after I get the motor and tranny/t case in and get the cab back on after I fix it and its primed.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Well, today I managed to start getting the bed back together and it's almost ready to be primed.I have both bedsides bolted down as well as the front panel. Now I just have to get the wheel wells back in,do some minor rust repair and then shoot on the primer.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Tonight I took off the clips that once held on the long gone side molding.I aligned the doors so they shut now and they are lined up good.I cleaned off some metal and primered most of the back of the cab except near where the cab corners need replaced and then shot on some primer

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Did some more body work today.I got the cab cleaned out and primered the floor pans...Where they don't need replaced.I also got out the cab corners and marked where I need to cut so the new ones will fit....But,while with the family at lunch I seen a 71 2wd Blazer and now I fell back into 2wds so the next project is going to be a 4wd blazer tub on a shortened 2wd truck frame, sounds like fun!!!So,I will have the big 4wd,and the lowered 2wd..

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

Well,I have been in the planning of the next project.A 4wd to 2wd convert Gen 1 blazer so I havent done much work on the 71 lately. But,Tomorrow I'm going to the junkyard to look for some parts though and hopefully atleast get a swaybar to use on the front.Might also get a grill from another 71 to use..I plan on taking the cab back off the truck soon and hope to get the drivetrain stuffed in in the next few weeks

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

No,I bought the lines and the double flare tool at Advanced Auto.I don't have enough line to do the entire truck but just about.
Welcome back to Indiana in advance. It's supposed to be sunny for the next week or so,atleast here it is.Where's the pics of your truck frame? If I can't post pics of mine, you have to of yours I actaully shopped for cameras today,I might have some pics in a few weeks...
You might be caught up to me soon..it depends on how soon I get the drivetrain in.I just need to get some floor pans and then weld in the new patch panels in the cab, primer it,undercoat the bottom, and then re-install it.It should be close to running under its own power shortly after that.

Re: Its the shortbed's turn "Project Junkyard Resurrection"

that sounds exactly like my agenda.... Just got new pans, rockers and supports for my cab. I need to start a build thread and catch up on the progress... Mine is going to come to a stand still this fall since I have to leave for a school for 6 months....
