Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Real time bookmark.

Headed out of Jonesboro Arkansas this morning near 11.00 heading back to St Louis, well, 40 miles beyond St Louis back to Dennis’ place, I took this pic.

It’s his BIRTHDAY tomorrow, and we certainly wanted to be here, so it would be a long slow drag through, with stops where and whenever we wanted.

I was driving as Craig got hit late last night by a Migraine that had not shifted, and still has not shifted.

Front of the Dually was a field of dead bugs.

Back home

Got in yesterday morning

Sally very pleased to see me, sweet woman had done my laundry, made me a fresh bed and got me milk and bread, all unprompted, she also made us kebabs and salads for dinner, quite a shock, all the healthy food.

Slept 90 minutes on couch middle of the day.

Then 9.30 to 07.00 and again 08.30 to 11.00

Harley has not left my side of bed since I got home

Now trying to do some catch up loading of pics and writing.

But head like a zombie.

1987 GMC Caballero aka El Camino.

We have used it two years running on the road trip for general hooning, fetching and taking duties.

Freshly Safety tested two weeks ago.

Collection Wentzville, Missouri

With canopy/Camper top.

V8 Auto, electrical everything, new steel wheels and tyres/tires.

And a walk around video clip I made a year ago.

Got it wrong, Dennis is third owner.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

End of the road trip coming up,fast.

We headed to O’Fallon via two more Walmart’s, trying to find some more of the Chevy truck models for Craig.

No luck there.....

However, he saw a model that I can only reveal in Or toward end November, which I promptly scooped and bought to bring home.

Racing against time a bit, to get to Dennis’ workshop, we made it there at 4.27pm for our 4.30 shop tour and departure to the trade show..

That’s a mailbox.

Craig laid instant clam to this little guy, who knows what the future holds there.

Now those that read stuff, rather than just looking at pics.......

Take close notice.

Not much notice here.

But once inside through that little hole in the wall.......

Cheap beers, and good company abounds.

Great company.

Friends.

And.....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

.
.
..
.
.

DrummRollllllll.......

Meet Mo !!

Serves the coldest beer you could want to find.

And snacks.

And if, like me, you are special enough.......

She will serve you your own little plate of snacks.

What a girl.

Loved her Cardinals

After a few beers, Dennis bought everyone a round, tipped Mo and we left in his truck.

Headed to the lodge he is a member of, and where Adam and Hanna are getting married.

We were in early.

Free bar.

Once again, the food was excellent and I had to force myself not to go fetch more.

Once the raffles were drawn, we headed back to Dennis’ shop to collect the challenger, Imwas driving while Craig operated Waze and found two more Walmart’s.

We also saw this grain truck, soooooo tempting and in great condition

Craig as you know is negotiating a COE in Oklahoma, and saw this model, of course it had to go home.

Got home after 8.30pm and created piles in the spare room, we were being taken to the airport at 10.00 am by Debbie.

Eventually bed time, late in the night with some good byes to Adam, Hanna, Tyler,

What a blast this trip had been.

Next stop St Louis Airport I guess.

Have not heard/seen RC cola stuff in quiet a while. That bike seems to be a good way to limit overpopulation.

Dennis has continued work, and collection of bits for his replica gas station.

Soffits are the current challenge, the interior is long since completed.

Yesterday he went to a dodgy part of St Louis, guns needed, and bought one of two payphone boxes.

Number two to be collected soon.

Busy weekend, loads done over at Sally’s place

And sunset by her.

They are lovely.

Would have them if I had less “stuff” laying about.

Thursday I called a mate whom I do not get to see often anymore as my job has evolved and the territory changed

However some friendships are cemented in simple trust and knowing who has your back.

In this case, both of us know it.

After 45 minutes of catching up on travel, kids, dogs, cats and the rest, he randomly asked me if I had a trailer.

I thought he needed to borrow one, and said yes, I had a bike trailer with no sides, but he was welcome to it, and that I wished it had sides as it would possibly work better for him (he is not a biker, so would not be needing a bike trailer of course)

So he replied that he did not need a trailer, but had one, and did I need or want one.

He would send pics on Friday.

On Friday he sent these photos, and I realised I would happily offer it a home, so I asked him how much he wanted for it, to which he replied: A Handshake, drink a coffee with him, play with Max their new dog and collect the two litres of South African Brandy he has had stashed away for me the last two years.

Now I just need to get to collect the thing 30 miles from here, as none of my vehicles have a tow hitch.

@CraigRK May have to collect on my behalf on his way here to collect all the treasure he has at my place.

Friday night after a rough week at work my V8 addiction broke through and Sally and I needed to go for a decent drive in the Blazer

So off to my local, serviced gas station where they still fill your tank.

And then off......

Sally likes to take photos when I am not watching.

Eventually back home, I parked the Blazer up over the street, in case a potential buyer stopped to look.

On Saturday Sally and I went to Faversham to a street market, afterward we went to see mate Neil, who sold me my new welder a couple of years ago.
He also sold @CraigRK a 75 liter compressor while we were there, into the back of the Focus it went.

Then to the Isle of Sheppey to deliver the Radio Flyer race car to mate Aaron, and check out what he was up to.

He pointed out the small skip and mentioned stuff he had tossed in there.

Included was a good welders mask, about 20 hardly used micro fibre cloths bag, 200 very large black bin liner bags, and a load of random stuff I did pass on.

Micro fibres already washed and dried.

However............

This, came home from his workshop.

Complete Porta Power tool.

There is more.

Just got a pic from Andy in Oklahoma

He did a first casting for a personalised Bigfoot Gas Pedal.

Due to being thin, long and metal setting too fast, it did not completely fill the mould.

However........

All is not lost in my world.

Being perfect imperfect it would be just right for a patina build.

No need to add damage or fake wear to it.

I love it.

I'm like you, it adds character to the foot! Gotta have one for the ole ride, its mandatory for all hotrods. I have had mine for close to 40 years. It just gets transferred from toy-to-toy.

Love it.

Got a message from mate Dirk (Maverick) in South Africa.

He went back there a few years ago from a cushy London IT job to manage AVOOVA (Google it) and bring his kids up in Africa.

“Just bought this for the price of a pizza dinner with two beers for two in London today” was his message.

He and the boys are currently building a teardrop trailer, a VW Beach Buggy and living a carefree life.

He is also onto a very old Massey Fergusson tractor wreck for parts to use on his patina build.

What a Thames Trader used to look like.

In other news, Andy sent another teaser photo

His furnace getting a next melt ready.

Looking forward to the 2019 USA Road Trip now.

Bootfair follow up.

Cat found a spot.

I love the detail of the leather bound swagger stick.

And the riding crop.

50p for this work.........

How is it done?

@CraigRK and I took some time today to fine tune the road trip as well.

It has taken on a whole new life and personality with 4 of us in a truck for the first half.

New logo.

Of course it can be improved a lot.

And this years transport.

Can you say Dually?
