Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Dude, your buddy's truck is sweet! Nice to hear about the smooth azz floor. I hear ya about getting organized. My buddy just started sheeting my south bay north wall and put some shelves up in there. He spent 2 days organizing and throwing crap away. It's crazy how much crap we have in there for the building only being used for 2 years.

I couldn't resist stressing your heart one more time, I inherited this one, so I'm still Chevy to the core, just a Dodge Caretaker

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Well had a great work day on the chassis...it's been sitting a while so I didn't want to take any chances....drained the oil poured it back in the top half on each side.....pulled the distributor out and drove the oil pump until it came back up into the pushrods and heads...pulled the plugs ( which was a pain because i had to take the headers off to get at 3 of the plugs, apparently there is going to be a modification of the bolt flange before those go back on )..light spray of WD40 into the cylinders.Polished both value covers and breathers, polished some of the other bits and parts. Rolled it over by hand a bit while the plugs were out and it's all good and ready to go . I hope at some point on the weekend to fire it up and hear it run....

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Well i fired up the engine in the new chassis and it really runs.....it really does....Just about everything that could have been wrong was wrong, the rocker studs were lose so had to strip all of the roller gear off and tighten all the studs down. Then had to set the roller rockers.......drove the oil pump with a drill until I had lots of oil pressure then set the distributor back excatly where it was.....then just before i tried to start it i found out it was 80 degrees out......( after i buttoned up everything with out checking anything )

Those aluminum angle plug heads hated every type of exhaust I tried....long tube headers.....fenderwell headers....it's impossible to pull atleast have the plugs with the exhaust on. I broke a couple of plugs as it was trying to get the rest out.

Note to self : Never rush and assume that the guy who did the job ahead of you did it right the first time.

Sorry to hear your issues. The headers sound like it's going to make working it a real PITA! Can you get a set of custom ones built for you that way you won't cut them up a year after you have it together? Running??? Really??? No vid. That's crap. I'll give you a vid of mine running but who wants to hear crickets. LMAO!

Well ...in my defence it only ran for about a min because we didn't have the rad in it . Lots of work left to do yet and once I get the fuel pump mounted and the real fuel lines run we can talk video. But it sure sounded sexy right out of those headers.....and who doesn't like a little flame out of a open header right ?

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

A little late but I found this post on positioning a bumper. Quite ingenious and seems close to your issue. I didn't see your name on the post so here's the post, like I said a little late but maybe useful.

I'd suggest taller air bags but those mickeys ain't gonna get any traction. Funny we only got an inch, surrounded by mountains we usually get hammered. Our turn is maybe Friday, hopefully it goes down the Strait again, oh but that will hit you again.
