Same old story. "Not for sale. I'm going to fix it up" as it sinks into the dirt and rots.

It's their car. They can what they please. But it's a shame to see a beautiful machine just rot away.

I remember an old farmer back home who only drove fine cars. Lincolns, Caddys and such. He did not hesitate to head off across the pasture in one. Big guy named Jumbo Medders. Needless to say he never had a trade in. When one laid down he'd just go get another one.

2nd hand story: my logging buddy down in CO knew a wheeler dealer real estate guy who always drove Cadillacs. It didn't matter where the property was or how hard to get to, he would take the customer out to see it in that Caddy.

I guess if he tore it all up making the sale, he could buy a new Caddy

My wife's stepfather only drove Cadillac's. My wife asked me to look around for a new car for him because his Eldorado was falling apart. He was elderly and knew nothing about cars. And he didn't want to spend too much. So I looked around for him. It was kind of a tall order. Find a nice car for a low price. And it had to be close to him so he could look at it.

I found him a very nice Lincoln town car. Low miles. Priced right, within budget. Right around the corner from him. Practically next door.

Nope. He didn't want it. It wasn't a Cadillac. Back to square one.

Should have found him one of these it would have cured his Cadillac addiction quickly

Back in the 1980s my friend's dad bought a pretty nice Cadillac for I think $500. It was maybe late 1960s vintage but of course a "gas hog" for that time so it was cheap.

One spring I was helping them brand which was always an adventure. We somehow got the calves separated and herded into a makeshift enclosure, and here comes his dad with the big long Caddy and parks it across the opening for a gate!

Needless to say that nice car didn't stay nice very long

My friend's dad's Cadillac was older than that. It still had the fins.

I enjoyed owning and driving this ‘37 Packard 115C for almost a decade, it was pretty refined compared to most cars of the same era. I sold it to make room for my brothers Apache when he died unexpectedly. I’d buy it back in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.

My wifes stepdad had a 69 DeVille convertible before the Eldorado. It had issues. It caught on fire twice. She made him sell it because it kept catching on fire..

I don't know why. Who doesn't like a hot 69

My dad bought a next to new '77 from a friend who had a dealers license...great deal. It was silver inside and out. Great cars, a modern classic. He got a zillion trouble-free miles out of that one. Nice driving car

Such fine cars. There really was a difference.

My Brother in law would buy these with diesel engines very cheap and do swaps with Oldsmobile 350's.

It was a great cruiser. A big car with the top down full of friends on a summer night is hard to beat.

I sold it for the down payment on my first house. I made almost 100K on that house. And that was back in the day. Not a bad investment for 1000 bucks.

It was yellow like this one. 327 automatic. Nothing to set the world on fire but it was so smooth.

What a sweet ride, the body style on 69 always impressed me. 350 under the hood ?
Nothing better then cruising with the top down a summer evening.
I had this for a couple of years, 1970 Cadillac De Ville. Replaced interior, top and new paint job.

I had a '64 Impala convertible the about the same color as that '69. I sold it because my wife didn't want to drive a stick. I worked for two Chevrolet dealers over the course of a couple of years out of high school. I'll never forget the '69 SS convertible Impala a customer had. It had a 427, but I don't remember what flavor trans. It was burgundy poly for the paint color. Gorgeous, gorgeous car!

A friend's mom had an Olympic Edition Laguna S-3 w/454 like this
Name: olympic edition S3.jpg
Views: 297

I always wondered why we only saw cars that were run in NASCAR 'done up' to resemble drag cars, jacked up with big rear tires. I wanted to build a NASCAR styled car but never did. Well, I finally came across a picture of what I had in mind. So very cool IMO. Someone did a nice job

Yep - I like it.

Kind of what I was going for when I drove mine on the street (those are LR60-15's on 8 inch Corvette rallys - all four corners).

Re: Pic Thread: Cool Old Cars

I raced a guy in one of these back when I had my 68 Charger. I had a 440 and it said 340 on the fender. So I figured no sweat. Boy was I wrong. That car was quick. I don't remember who won but we did pull over in a gas station afterwards to B.S. The guy was cool. I asked him what it was and he said it was a T/A Challenger. I had never heard of a T/A. I knew 340's. My brother had one and it was fast. But this guy gave me a run for my money. It was a green one just like this. I never saw one before and haven't seen one since.
