Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

I don't personally care if he sold the truck 1st I like small back window '67s and 2nd I couldn't afford any truck right now let alone the most cherry '68 I have ever seen 3rd I like step sides 4th I want to build my own. I love this truck. I think if i would do an I6 it would have to be a 292. but the little amount of pictures I did see I really liked. Where in MO did you find this thing out of curiosity?

I don't know about that...I lived in Rolla for the past 4 years, and I saw a handfull on the road regularly....most aren't very rust free though. It is hard to find an original Missouri truck that isn't pretty rusty. The frames are usually OK but nearly every one is missing large portions of the floor, has windshield rot, and wheelwell rot in the bed. It is amazing a truck that nice came from MO, I'm wondering if it came from another state originally, or was stored inside in the winter, or what...

it actually came from a guy closer to california missouri, me and a buddy argued over who was going to buy it and he ended up with it, he had it in jefferson city mo for awhile till he moved to seymour missouri, then it got sold to n2billet. Wish i would have bought it when i had the chance, very solid truck.

I guess it's my computer but I saw only 3 pictures since page 6. Are these actually posted somewhere?

I would love to see this fine example of a truck - Bob

Darn shame about those pics. Read all the posts. Sounds like it was a very nice build.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

I talked with N2TRUX this weekend and it seems the only way to get the pictures back is for me to sit down and manually add them back in. So with that said I will start adding them back in over the next few weeks..... wish I could do it faster but I'm working on my trucks! Now I have to get all those pictures rounded back up and figure out where they go

Make sure to save them as attachments so they don't disappear again. Oh, and thanks- there are some good references in this thread.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

The Air cleaner I got off of E-bay and I made the lower mounting plate. I also made the radiator hoses.

Re: n2billet's project 68 "Extreme Makeover" hot rod style

I'm sure it's already been said somewhere in the last 17pages, but this is IMO the perfect drop! I just wish it didn't cost $7000

And if there is a cheaper way to get the same results, please share!

3" drop spindles & cut 1-coil from the stock springs up front. Swap bags in place of the rear coils (bolt them directly to the frame just like the coils), add 2" lowering blocks, & bolt-in c-sections.

That will get you the exact same ride height. If you must be able to drop it down when parked, substitute bags in place of cutting the front coils.

3" spindles <$300
Dbl Convoluted bags @ ~$70ea = $280
Lowering blocks + u-bolts @ $70
Bolt-in c-sections @ $130
Air management system (for beginners) @ $1049 (ART RidePro 4-way)

300 + 280 + 60 + 120 + 1049= Less than 7K easy.

How many pictures were there? Have you thought about starting a new thread for just the pictures? Hell, I'd be willing to post them up if you email them to me.

He uses POR-15 stuff if the color is right. For everything else, they use standard automotive paints/clears (same stuff you'd use on the body). The automotive stuff will 'cook' immediately around the exhaust ports but will survive intact otherwise.
