We put the nitrogen in to keep the moisture out and to pressure check it too. Not sure how long we'll vacuum it down before the charge, I'll let ya know!!

Thanks for all of the positive comments!

Headed to a HUGE car show in Myrtle Beach, SC this Friday and Saturday with my Dad. Its our annual event we've attended for the last 17 years!

Nice truck. I like what you've done with the bed. I have a question, how did you fasten the bed boards from below???

Re: My long term 57 project

Got the AC all charged up and it works great. My AC guy didn't vacuum the system, he used the escaping nitrogen to do that, then put in the R134.

Had a slight glitch with the heater as it wouldn't blow hot air! Checked the lines and they were hot at the intake but cold at the unit.?? Well we figured we must have an air bubble in the lines, since they do loop up over the tire in the wheel well.

So I jacked the front up as high as I could, then started the truck and we had heat!! But after letting it back down, NO heat!! Topped of the water and still no heat with it level on the ground. So I went to a buddies house to get his pressure tester to put more pressure in the system. But as it turned out the bubble worked it self loose on the way home and I have heat!!

I really like the VA system with the variable controls! Here's a pic of the sliders that work with the factory controls.

Re: My long term 57 project

Well guys I made the score of a lifetime! Just happened to be looking through Craigslist on Friday and ran across an ad selling Cameo parts in Roswell, GA. I immediately called the number and after a 2 minute conversation I bought it all! Made the 12 road trip on Saturday and they're all mine.

The seller was a great guy, a Viet Nam chopper pilot, with a lot of cool stories. He had been restoring and customizing cars and trucks for 40+ years and is finally ready to sell off his loot and close up shop.

The metal bedsides are in great shape, the fiberglass is in good shape, except for the passenger side tail light area. But for $300.00 I couldn't pass it up. He even through in the headlight rings, grill bar and buckets with the deal too.

I've always wanted to make mine a Cameo, and now with a little good fortune and a few more items I will make it happen. It will probably be a while before it will be done but I'm very excited. Now I've got to get to work finding the tail lights and some trim!!

And scored so excellent BBQ at the "Swallow at the Hollow" on Green St in Roswell. If you are ever never Roswell it's a must have!

Re: My long term 57 project

Truck looks good with the cameo sides ... you're lucky I was out of town away from the puter as those sides would have been in my stockpile. Roswell is 17 miles from my house!

Great score & you are correct "score of a lifetime".

I'm glad someone here on the forum got those. Wish I'd known you were in town Saturday, I'd have driven over and had barbeque with you.

Re: My long term 57 project

Thanks guys! I'm very excited about this next phase of the build, but it will take sometime to get it all sorted out and find the trim pieces I need to complete it.
Russell, it all came together so quickly, I didn't think to drop you a PM, would have liked to have seen your 57, and the BBQ was awesome!!

Thanks! I'm out on Johns Island and I work out of the house so I'm here most of the time. Shoot me a message if you're ever in the area and wanna swing by. Looking to get out and hit up some local events too now that the weather is getting nice.

Will do! Have you been to the monthly show at Bessinger's BBQ on Savannah Hwy? The next one is on May 7th. Not sure if I'll make it, but the last one had 150+ cars and trucks!
