Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

tek970, I am in Houston too, and I will be getting the -2's, I'll let you know what we end up doing. First thought is that were gonna chuck the wheel up on a manual lathe, and just open up the wheel hub bore. But I'll keep an eye on the thread and post up what we end up doing.

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

Really dumb question: what style lug nuts do these wheels take, the tapered seat (acorn) or shank style? Want to get some ordered ASAP.

DUH! Answered my own question by doing something radical: I checked the AEW web page about the 338s.

They're acorn.

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

I cant remember what they are called, but I had a set on my integra's rim's. theyre shaped so a certain socket can only be used to take them off. That way you dont get hooligans getting any ideas of a quick theft. Thats what Im going with, even tho I live in the boonies and theyre really isnt much crime. Any wheel shop can get them if I remember right.

No, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the seat.

This is a shank-style lug nut:

And this is an acorn or conical seat style:

I knew that was what you were talking about, I just assumed it would be acorn as most aftermarket wheels Ive owned had been. I was just showing those type of lug nuts....

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

I have been trying to buy a set of the 338's two 18x8's and two 20x10's with a 5x4.75 bolt pattern in Chrome. I tried the audimated website and when it asked for the type of finish it only showed black or gray, no chrome. I have also pm'd sublvr72, I e-mailed him at the link on the first page, and I have also called and left a message on the phone on the first page. I would really like to get in on this buy but I'm not having any luck contacting anyone. I can be reached at scottscustompaint@bendcable.com, or please call me on my cell at 541 815 2157. or ofcourse PM me if you would like. Thanks Scott

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

What a bummer, i bought a set of these wheels and they finally arrived today to my dealer 20x8.5 and 20x10 i got my tires mounted and brought them home only to figure out that the hub bore is wrong. If i get the correct bore for the front, are the back wheels going to look any different or will i have to swap them in too?

Different center caps between the -2 and -3 revisions. Haven't seen them in person so I don't know how noticeable the difference is. At least you've learned a valuable lesson about test-fitting wheels before mounting tires.

the bad thing is i was worried about the rear wheel fitment and brought one of the 20x10's home and mounted it up, i just never dreamed about the bore not being right.

The caps mount differently so they might look a little different. But you should be okay otherwise. Welcome to the board. Truck in your avatar looks great!

Mounted some fatty 285/35s on my 18x9.5s after work. I love the deep dish on these wheels!

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

Thanks! I was building a 1971 gmc for about the last ten years while looking for a finished truck all that time. I finally found one close to what i wanted and got a good buy. The main thing i wanted to change was the wheels. As you guys know they were on backorder for a while. I'll post a new pic when i get the new wheels

Sorry, the phone system was down for most of yesterday and today. We were doing system upgrades and the phones are tied into the systems. I'll be around most of tomorrow and the phones should be back up as well.
