Re: project (sweet pea)

Thanks mike.....It was easy, just a lot of measuring to get the final travel of the strut, These struts are off a Land Cruiser....I am trying to get my parts guy at work to get me some part numbers.....And the holes in the fenders was already there....Thats the main reason i did this.....The holes are factory holes.( in the fender)...And it was a cake walk to drill through the hinge......Just finding the right strut took a while to find....Good thing for totals......lol......The biggest issue was the close position of the strut and hood....That is where the struts become very strong.....Full extension of the strut and the End of travel is where they are the strongest....There is little to know pressure opening the hood and very little resistance...So that is where the measuring was so critical......I will get some part numbers for those wanting to do this....? not sure if any body will or not....I just thought it was a cleaner look. and i have never seen it done in our trucks.....

Re: project (sweet pea)

Guys and Brian i have to apologize, i have forgotten to ask, I will do first thing in the Morning.....And Brian......Doing the Strut mod did not effect any alignment issues ...And really uses holes that are already in the (tri-pro) fenders....

On another note......I got the gussets made from the tailgate to the bedside (gate is shaved). It turned out pretty good IMO anyways.ill get some pics.....i also got the Passenger side door aligned . FINALLY............Plans are at this point to get a few more loose ends tide up,And to go ahead and take it to work Saturday morning....And then start the LONG process of blocking.....I am shooting for a GOOD first block....Prime again and a FINAL block.....Then shoot it in a week or two or three lol....

Re: project (sweet pea)

The Status is i left the paper at work with the part numbers....When i get to work i will post them in the A.M...Sorry just been a hectic week........

Any how.......Here is a few pictures of the (gussets) or (filler) panels, what ever you choose to call them....That i made for the bed to tailgate....I think they look pretty good....And it added a lot of strength to the gate.....At this point all the Body work is done along with 95% of the fitting.....So its time to load this thing up and take it to work for a few weeks of blocking.......Not that it will take that long to do the work....Just that long to squeeze it all in....With Christmas coming and just really bad timing........Any ways plans are to load it up Saturday Morning and Get it to work safe and sound.........Here are some Pics.......Name: driver side filller.JPG

I don't care for the acronyms that people throw out because I'm too stupid to figure them out, but I'll create one now.
