I guess that justifies the huge box.

Yesterday I endured the 105 degree temperature and got some more paint down. Today I'm going to finish the paint on the front end, and if I have time, I'll try and finish the frame and cross members.

Yea we got up to 106 yesterday too, but you were apparently a lot more ambitious than I was. Those parts look really good!

Well, I'm done planning my life around the weather this truck needs to be done! Oh, and 105 here is a dry heat, so the shade actually does provide some relief

Too fast! It was way hard to get it to lay down smoothly without having dry spots.

I am proud to announce that I'm officially done with painting the frame and front end!

Looks good Mike!

Don't u luv how overspray goes everywhere? I got Chevrolet Orange overspray all over the front end of Black 68 GMC when painting a motor for another project...

Make sure you pull that pretty truck of yours out into the street while doing this.

Looks good! Hey, once you start putting it back together, you can always fan yourself off with the exhaust from the air ratchet...

Yeah, I actually pull the new truck over into the neighbor's driveway two houses down.

Thanks! Yeah, I can't wait either! It will be nice to know this will be the last time I have to install stuff.

Last night I tried to press out the old ball joints so I could install the new ones and ripped my vice right off my bench. I guess I don't know my own strength or it wasn't installed correctly. I'm going with my strength story!

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"

As I was scanning down, I was hoping there was more progress than just painting the diff cover (not that I've not posted for even less progress...). Getting the front diff back in looks like good progress though. I have to admit, though, that seeing the front axle like that on jack stands with the frame upside down next to it kinda makes a fella feel dizzy or something. But, then again, it's late, and I was in the sun too much today...

Nice job, as usual!

Yeah, I had a very hard time getting motivated this weekend for some reason. I feel dizzy every day looking at it

Thanks!

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"

Why is it that the smallest of updates take the most time?

All I was able to accomplish was to get my u joints put in my axle shafts, and get my spindles mounted. Man that was a lot more work than I expected

I also got my old rotors off so I could install the new shiny ones on.

Yep, all that little stuff or hard labor people don't get to see. It's looking good. You're doing the hard stuff so it'll last another 40 years or so.

Yeah, I'm glad that I'm taking the time to do this, because nothing will suck the fun out of a toy like having to rip it apart later to do what you should have done the first time

Thanks!!

Or, you could put a tall ramp in the front yard and park with one front tire up there to show off the underbelly. Your HOA would probably love that That front end is coming back together nicely.

Now there's an idea! Thanks!

Ok, so between camping and being lazy, I haven't made as much progress as I was hoping for. But I spent a little time out getting intimate with the front axle. I was only able to finish one side because the spindle nuts for the other side are not right (at least the back one isn't...it doesn't have the pin that keeps it from moving). But I am just loving how this is turning out!

Hmmm..wanted to upload pics, but apparently there is a new restriction?

Re: 69 GMC "Ol' Blue"

I received my spindle nuts today, so I tore down the driver's side again and replaced the nuts, then buttoned up the passenger side. Front end is all but done!!! I am so pleased with how it turned out.
