Sprayed the pearl this morning, four coats (light).

Sprayed the clear tonight, 5 coats (wet).

Overall, seems it is laying out okay, a bit of orange peel on the one rear fender...a bit of contamination I think.

A few dust spots but not too bad for painting it in my garage! Will wet sand it out once it is reassembled.

Thanks guys! Painting was certainly a process in itself!

Here are a few pics of small things I did today, put on wheels, the gas caps and test fit the motor covers...

Thanks! I get all that sort of stuff at NAPA. If you have CAA you get a discount on most things.

I am going to paint the cover...just not sure how to go about it. Was thinking about using touch-up paint to paint the lettering and getting some pinstriping tape from the autobody supply shop to mark the stripes. I'm just scared that my hand is too shakey to do it freehanded.

I haven't yet...but going to pick up the new hose pieces tomorrow. I want to keep the vent hose so will need to figure it all out. Am thinking about coming through the box floor with the hoses.

Thanks! Diamond white is a pain to spray, but I wanted something unique and I haven't seen another square painted DW anywhere.

Re: "The Ayatollah of Rusty Hole'a 1987 SWB 6.0 4L80E

Thanks guys!

Not much to show although I've been working alot on it....swapped in the new column that I painted last week & had to do some mods on it as it was out of a '90. Will need to modify the shift linkage once again as it is on the otherside of the column but I'm going to sleep on that b/c I'm tired now.

Did some more wiring, drilled in the billit pedals, bled the brake lines & master cylinder, figured out how to bolt on the hood supports, and ran longer vent hoses for the gas tanks so they vent further back under the bed instead of under the cab = less gas fumes to smell!

To do's this week: fininsh some more wiring, work on the shift linkage, look at a tranny pan leak (needs a better gasket), fix the right signal flasher as it works but doesn't flash on the cluster, put the windshield in, put in the carpet and dash and rear speakers and tire jack tool holder....but progress is coming slowly.

I booked it in for the exhaust on June 15th so I have a definite deadline now to work towards.

Nice work Gordon! I used to be a little further along than you on my truck, but now you are passing me up. I like those billet peddles. Are those from NAPA also?
