It looks like the one they installed on This Old House today

BMERDOC, how to they hang that so far up? It isn't a pulley system?

Thanks guys, it should work well for what I have planned....and similarly sized vintage coolers were all outrageous in price.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

cool tool box, you should replace that knaack decal with a bowtie or perhaps a vintage plate or maybe even one of those cool chev plates that dealers had, i think i seen pt's70cst selling them, i saw one on a truck someone was parting out too that had "patina" but it was a lil bent i forget who it was but the truck had a brush gaurd just an idea though

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

A brush guard could be cool! I'll be adding stickers to the box. I'm keeping the knaack decal though. Getting a lot accomplished today. Steering column final mounted. Had to collapse the intermediate shaft to get the column as close as I wanted to the dash. Got the patches sanded and primered. Painted the driver's door jamb so I can get the push on weatherstrip installed tomorrow. Had to loosen the gas tank to get the gasket on the filler neck. Got that installed and the tank tightened back down. Fixed the last spot of rust inside on the passenger kick panel. Waiting for the skim coat of filler to dry so I can sand and paint that. Then I will put all the interior bits in. Wanted to wait till all welding, grinding, and painting was finished.

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

I have a really clean re-chromed three bar brush guard that is for our exact years but it would be too shiny against what you're goin for :/

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Thanks guys, yeah a chromed brush guard would be a little too much bling for the shop truck

Steering column bolted inside now, ebrake bolted up, handles added, and wheel bolted on.

Got the weatherstrip on the driver's side

Got the old dash pad off

Recovered (by my mother) dash pad mocked up

New rearview mirror installed

Took front steel wheels off so I can get better tires put on them

I know you said that your Mom wasn't happy with the dash pad, but it looks good in the pictures!

So, at ride height it's sitting on the bump stop?

Thanks, it looks good. It's not perfect but it's a shop truck, right? Plus, I have something my mom did in the truck

Actually that is just without any lines in the bag yet so it's "aired out" I plan to ride with it at around a 5.5/7.5 drop once I c-notch it.

Everything is looking good.
What all do you have left on your punch list before you are ready to drive it?

Waiting on cupped lca's to come in this week....then will put the front bags and upper brackets on, install the newer drums with new wheel cylinders /spindles and new brake lines and bleed the brakes

Will pick up new ps pump/reservoir I ordered tomorrow, and install that. Also getting the belts then

After ps is done and brakes are bled the front clip will go on. Final wiring, battery, rad, tranny cooling lines, hoses, fluids, and it'll be ready to fire.

Have to tighten up the rear end parts, put on the better tires on the wheels, and run exhaust. Then bed will go on and I'll be driving it.

Still have things I will work on after that but I'll be driving it

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Got the headliner installed. First I sanded, primed, and painted the passenger kick panel. Need to sand and repaint later because it looks fine in shadows but not in the light for the headliner I used prep-all to make sure the surface was clean. Then used a few left-over pieces of dynamat to further quiet the cab. And used high strength velcro to attach it. All the way around the perimeter and a couple pieces inside so it won't sag over time. Very happy with the way it makes the interior look and sound....noticeably quieter already w/out the door panels and seat installed. And looks a lot more classy

Re: Project#2 67-72 Restoration's Shop truck

Also got the inspection cover tightened down on the tranny, hei wire w/ grommet installed, and finished running the wire from the firewall to the taiilights. Painted some e-brake pieces and the "new" driver's kick panel vent handle.

Bmerdoc sent me a text @ coming over tomorrow night to work on the spindles/a-arms/brakes.
