Static Drops!!!

Wierd, the site shows a 6 in drop with the wheels sitting the same as my 3 in drop. My 5 in drop was tucking the rear tires!

15x8 wheels, with 265/75/R15s I believe, maybe their 65s, can't remember off the top of my head. I'll double check this weekend.

I took my truck in to check alignment as it jumps around a little bit when in full lock and found out tire may be rubbing lower control arm. I'm getting the control arm cut out in that area and boxed to regain strength (I'll take pics).

My Firebird did this for the longest time, never bothered fixing it though as the alignment was perfect. Think it has to do some what with tie rod adjustments and how they affect the accerman (SP) angles.. In other words, at full lock the inside tire in the turn makes a sharper turn than the outside. I'd assume under certain circumstances, that angle could be affected, thus making one tire or the other not follow in the same arc as the other, making it bounce and scuff some. My dad mentioned it's sometimes normal on a few cars.

If it is making metal on metal contact of course go and fix that. But if all is clear, it's just the geometry being weird. I'm sure one of our suspension guys on here could give a better fix. Maybe PM Scoti and ask what he thinks.

4.5/6 drop. no rubbing issues once i went to a 225/60-15 up front. I have since raised the front up 1" though to make it sit more level.

here's my truck with 2.5" drop spindles up front and 4" drop coils in the rear. I'm running 275/60R15 all the way around and I don't have any rubbing issues. This is a good drop cuz I can still haul crap in the back of my truck, motorcycle, engines, etc. I think I'm gonna heat the rear and cut a coil in the front to get a lower stance though...

With coil springs in the rear, you don't need to notch the frame, according to ECE. What you WILL need with a 4 to 6-inch drop in the rear, is an adjustable track bar and the shock mount relocator hardware. The bar is necessary to center the rear axle and the shock hardware restores the geometry of the rear shocks so that they will work properly.

If you're running leaf springs, you already know you'd need to notch the frame for a radical static drop.

Mine has a set of 2" coils in the front and 3" in the back. I bought a set of air bag helpers for the back since it would bottom out on a bad pot hole and since I installed them it's not happened since.

I'm not exactly sure what mine is because I've had the components for so long. It's at least a 4/6 + a little.

Stepped control arms with springs in front & springs with about an inch worth of block in the rear w/ shock relocators and long track bar. 18" rims with 50 series rubber up front and 55 series out back.

Here's mine... still working on it. Front is 1 inch drop spring, 2 1/2 spindle. Rear is 5inch springs. Wheels and tires are, front 17x10 with 265/60 rear 17x10 with 285/60.

I have a ghetto blue-tip firewrench approximately 3/4.5" drop on my beater truck. I'm running 15 X 6" and 15 X 8" steelies with 215/70R15 fronts and 275/60R15 rears. I just heated them up and it still rides are drives great, although it isn't the ideal way to do it. Buying springs would be the much better route, but it was great zero dollar mod on my old beater.

hey where did you get the axle flip kit i am looking for one cause i have a 1972 chevy c10 3/4 ton and all i have found is axle flip kit for a 73 c10 could that work on mine????

Can you measure how tall your tires are? I'm running basically the same drop and I like the height of those tires. Only difference is I'll be running 18's instead of 17's.
