Re: a small window of opportunity

Damn, you are really on top of this. I emailed all of the links from your area and a few got back to me but their trucks had been sold. I am the highest bidder on a 70 4x4 on ebay although there are 4 1/2 days left. I am also going to look at a 72 2wd on Saturday morning. Hopefully I will bringing that one home although it is a bigger project then I originally wanted it is well within my price range.

Seems like a good price for that 70 2wd. Only 985 made in 70.

Don't know if anybody has mentioned this one. I know it's a little more then you want to spend, but it looks like it's worth it

Re: a small window of opportunity

I know that the blue 70 2wd is worth more because it's 1 of less than 1000 but I would prefer a blazer that isn't worth as much. I have a motor and transmission that I could swap in but if I'm going to do that I would rather find one for less. A 4wd to 2wd conversion would be better for me or a 4wd that someone put on the wrong year frame, something like that, not that I care if the price is right. I found A LOT in California last night. Many of whom I will be contacting today. To bad I don't live in Phoenix anymore.

Re: a small window of opportunity

That 70 2wd isn't that far from you. You could just put your motor and tranny in it.

That 70 would be sweet sitting on the ground with stock wheels and white walls and chrome bumpers with the 6 cyl.

Re: a small window of opportunity

Tomorrow I'm going to look at a 1970 2wd with a small block( the Owner thinks it is a 307) and was converted from a 3 speed to a th350. Has some rust in the rockers and the top of the windshield. Going off this information what do you think it's worth? I plan on driving it 4 hours home. I don't know if it is an original 2wd or not. What do you say?

Re: a small window of opportunity

I just got back with lots of questions and unfortunately no pics, I forgot my camera, a pretty boneheaded move. Ok, so here we go.
It's a REAL 72 2wd with disc brakes up front, P/S, P/B. Double walled hard top with a fragile hatch, it works but you have to be gentle. The front end is perfect and the rest of the body is perfectly straight with two small dents about the size of a golf ball underneath the rear tail lights. The doors work although the buttons are pushed in. The interior consists of to seats that the owner has just sitting there with no mounts. It has all of the gauges. that appear to work. It has a th350 and a small block chevy he thinks is the original 307 although it has a newer water pump, clutch fan, and HEI Distributor. It starts like it's fuel injected and sounds good.
Now the bad,
NO interior except for the crappy seats that are just sitting there.
Rusted out rocker panels and a little on the edges of the doors.
Some rust right in front and right behind the doors on both sides.
Windshield upper corners rusted pretty good.
Rear brakes don't work.
He wants 1650 delivered to my home 5 hours away. It has a clear Florida title.

Have him send you some pics so we can see. Doesn't sound like a great deal but not a bad deal either.

Re: a small window of opportunity

I would need to fix the rockers and the windshield right away. Get some seats, seat belts, and get the rear brakes working. I think the rest could be a work in progress. I read a post one time where a member said that three different things had to be taken into consideration, price, time, and quality. He then said that they were inversely related, when one goes up another one goes down. I need to have a driver for under 5000 with no rust issues in the next few weeks. I'm going to talk to the two body guys around here to see how much the rockers and windshield would cost and how long it would take. What do you guys think?
