Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

I finished welding the driver side rocker today and dressed all the welds. Time to move on to the passenger side!

I wanted to learn how to dress my welds a little bit better so I read the faq on this forum I decided to go out and buy a bunch of different sized roloc discs. Of course they worked amazing and I felt like I had much better control using the smaller 2 inch disc. I would recommend these to anyone who hasn't used them before. Below is a picture of the top of the rocker after I dressed the welds and primed. Also for those interested here is a link to faq where I learned about the roloc discs.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

I started on the passenger side today by removing the rocker. Overall the rocker was not rusted out but the passenger floorboard was pretty rusty so I'll be replacing that. It looks like I also have to replace the lower portion of the kickpanel as well.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

I'm still working on the passenger side floor repair. A lot of the same stuff I already took pictures of. As a more exciting note I ordered a 'FAST EZ EFI' setup for my small block today. Really looking forward to the switch to efi!

Looks nice! I assume there's a wiring harness somewhere? What do you think of the instructions that came with it?

Yes there is a wiring harness as well as an 02 sensor setup(to weld into exhaust) and a coolant temp sensor. The instructions appear to be very good. You can actually view the instructions before you buy the kit in the link below:

http://www.fuelairspark.com/ezefi/default.asp

Also I had a few questions about the kit before I bought it and I was able to talk to one of their techs through a chat system on their website which was very easy to use.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

My brother sent me a picture of a mockup of the fuel cell he is making for me. He should be bending up some aluminum today.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

I took a few weeks off from working on rust repair but I was back at it tonight. I got the passenger kick panel welded in today. I still have a little dressing to do on the weld but I was pleased with how it turned out being this was my first kickpanel job ever. The picture is at kind of a weird angle because the cab is on it's back and the floor is cut out so I was looking from the bottom of the cab in.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

My brother started bending up some aluminum today for my fuel cell. Looks like he is blazing along. As a side note I wish my garage floor looked as nice and was as big as the shop he gets to work in at his Wyotech classes.

I also sent him a high flow fuel pump from tanks inc to use in the cell as well as a universal 0-90 ohm sending unit. The pump assembly comes with a built in tray so the pump is never starved of fuel. It basically acts like a minature baffle inside the tank, although the fuel cell will have baffles in it as well for some added insurance. The pump and sending unit are also adjustable to the depth of your tank so it can be used in many different applications.

Re: 71' C10 Cheyenne Super Build

My brother built the baffles today and mocked up the overall tank. Should be tacking it up today.
