Re: everyone is doing it so i am to........s10 swap on a 51

here are the cab mounts. cab sits 3 1/2" off the frame.

here is my bed mounted with the 4x4 rear end looks good if you ask me. i don't see a "fender gap" issue. it's not lowered at all front or back.

Re: everyone is doing it so i am to........s10 swap on a 51

ride height is what i mean, gap from fender to wheel. If the cab is 5" off the frame it will look goofy, Just speaking from experience as thats how my project went and if i were to do it over again id mock it up with the small side of a 2x4 and have that work. Following alot of the minitrucking crowd i know bodydropping is the way to get it low

I got around to cutting down my running boards today. I think that they turned out good, just need to put a little bondo on them to help clean them up.
I used 1" masking tape and layered it to 1 3/4" and used that as my cut line.

This is the right side after I welded it back together

It fits really well in there. I did good George.

These are the left side. They need some filler, but they will work until I get to that point.

The truck is in my 2 car garage and I don't have enough room to take a pic of the whole truck. I will have to push it out in the drive way one of these days and take a pic. I'll try to do it next week.

did you lose any bed depth wen you went that low with your cab? and what did you use for cross beams from side to side? looks good to me.

I might have lost about 2". I used 1x2" channel. And I'm not going to lower my truck. I think that you loose all the bed depth when you bag your truck and C-notch the frame.

Today I finally installed my trans cross member. It took a little cutting and welding but it's in and it looks good enough. Of coarse I didn't take any pic's, one man show here. I'm thinking about rolling it out to let it see the sun shine or rain what ever's happening, then I'll take a few pix.

Well the weather wasn't light enough for me to put the truck out (snow and heavy non stop rain) so I didn't. But this weekend is suppose to be real nice. So some time this weekend I will for sure push it out. And by then I should have the running boards mounted on. I have one mount for the right board on. Just did it this morning. Hoping to get the rest done later today or tonight.

Well the body is mounted for the most part. I had a issue with things lining up but thanks to Sgt. and Jeffs51chevy things worked out. Today was the first time she saw the sun in about 3 years.

Re: everyone is doing it so i am to........s10 swap on a 51

Since I don't have a lot for getting parts not really a lot of "building" going on. But I did get some wood before I was "let go". My idea is to have a "tool box" in the back of my truck made to look vintage to hide the gas tank. Hence no filler neck sticking out anywhere. Let me know what you think. Thanks guys.

Looks real cool. Nice work. Now all you need is a stamp on it saying "Oranges" or something.

I did a quick search for old crate labels. I'd go with an old wiskey label myself, but I found an old Jello and then I found Gay Johnny...I guess it was a real company back in the day. I don't recommend use'n it though. I just thought it was funny.

Ya, you guys are right. I need to put something on it and make it look old. I like the ideas (not so much the gay johnny one), but I'm thinking beer, whiskey, or oranges. Although, the hazardous waste would be cool to if I can find old looking design.

Re: everyone is doing it so i am to........s10 swap on a 51

I was just going through and I noticed that I didn't have a pic of inside my cab so here ya go.

And I got a good set of valve covers yesterday, finally, and I got a set of ram horns that fit. So I put the air cleaner on and thought that I would take a pic of it also. I still need to clean up all the engine components, but for right now it's all just for fit.

So I was just going to put in the steering today, but then I ended up putting the inner fender wells in as well. Ya, what are ya gonna do?

So while I had it out I took a couple more pix of the ol' girl.

Re: everyone is doing it so i am to........s10 swap on a 51

Not really a hole lot going on here, just a couple of little odds and ends.
Since I have some hard board I decided to make some door panels. They are still not done yet, I'm going to upholster them. They are going to be black, but for now they will stay the way they are. It was supper easy and alot cheaper than going to get some repo ones. I started out with the basic shape and went from there shaping, edging, and drilling.

And I also want to know what is supose to go here (where the red circle is).

'Till next time.
