You know where to come for the good stuff....my garage

I do know exactly what you mean...most of the time deals like this are too good to be true.....was looking at a SWB stepside that the guy said on craigslist he wanted to get it off his friends land and was going to sell it "super cheap" emailed him to get his number, a few pictures and a price. Pictures were decent but could tell it was a newer paint job over rust (rockers gone, cab corners, front fender cups, etc..engine wasn't running due to "dead battery" he'd "try" to jump when I got there and the tranny wasn't shifting right.....but it was only the linkage of course....but he didn't have the time to fix it....

He "only" wanted 5000 for it. When I said I was looking at nicer running trucks for half that he said he wouldn't sell it for less than 4K....
maybe he had that much in it....but I'll take my blazer rather than a non-running rusty truck

Love the old body work pics...The new metal looks nice. My truck needs work in that exact area.

When I get the total time involved I'll get you an idea of what it cost me.

It is cramped in the garage, but I took some overall pictures with the top on as it sits now...

Re: 71 Blazer "Finishing Touches"

I went ahead and took the smooth gate off. Jason's going to use another bumper I have to patch the bad spots on the factory gate. The smooth gate will be the one we use with the custom panel for my next build...

Here's the smooth gate with the hitch...can also see the exhaust and painted gas tank

Re: 71 Blazer "Finishing Touches"

Oh, and you can see the side glass that the PO accidentally broke when he was delivering it to me...but I already got a new piece to replace it...

Some more pics....

Utility buckets that will be re-covered to match the rear bench

Inside windshield area

Hitch and gas tank wiring

All new fuel lines

Love those clean rocker boxes...POR15'd inside and out then undercoated and new bolts put on.

I liked this shot of the engine through the wheel well

MSD wires/coated headers

Starter all wrapped up. Getting dusty under here from the body work....

I 100% agree it looks better without the top.
I will confirm the color when I get over to the shop again thursday. I have a small can of paint left over from what the PO painted...

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it too and it hopefully won't be long....I ended up getting stuck at corporate training today and coming back late tomorrow. Then have church and a dinner on Thursday night so Friday will be the next time to work on it...but I have a good "To Do" list written out now and Jason's going to be working on it more also. I'll have most of the day Saturday and may take a day off work next week to do a lot of the mud/sanding work on it.

Need any help?

The patch work looks real good. Are you going to seal the backside of the patch?

Sure, come on down if you want to hang out and sand sand sand

yes, we'll be priming, painting, and undercoating the back side of the patch to match the rest of the undercarriage.

Re: 71 Blazer "Finishing Touches"

VA, can you please take some pics of the hitch, with information on the brand? I would like to upgrade the hitch on my 71. Also, is that a bolt-on hitch or is it welded? Thanks.
