Re: Finally out of paint jail!

I don't know what in the world possesed you to paint the wood bed black... but what ever it was I'm thankful for it cause that bed is eye candy. You have my second favorite black truck on the board now (second behind mine of course LOL) Looks one notch above fantastic.

Re: Finally out of paint jail!

Did you paint and seal or stain and seal? What paint/sealer?

I started my bed with a Cabot Wood Stain (Ebony) and followed with the Cabot Semi- Gloss Spar Vanish from Lowes....only problem is I stained/sealed then remembered, HEY DUMMY YOU GOTTA DRILL HOLES! LOL I guess I got a little excited, so I'll do it again here soon.

Your looks GREAT!!

No need to drill holes in the wood, bolt in the crossembers from under the bed. Saves the wood from splitting too.

Re: Finally out of paint jail!

Damn.... I can't wait. I have a 67 short bed in the garage. Frame was powder coated dropped spindles and custom crossmember from early classics... Now she sits while I finish other projects! PM me if you find a OEM 67-68 radiator support in good shape!

The wood was sanded, primed, and painted with the same paint as the truck - (I may regret that at some point if I want to use the bed much) and then the bed was put back together. I still got one board that cracked a little on one end (about an eight inch deep crack) but so far it hasn't got any worse.
