Re: My build. Project Karma. 71 stepside.

After getting that all taken care of i moved on to the cab corner. This is my first exterior welding, so i took my time and it came out very well... I had to do some modifications to get the rocker and the cab suppor to line up, but in the end, it looks really good.. I cant wait to get to the drivers side no i know what im doing....

After i got the cab corner on i test fitted teh rocker and the door. Notice how the rocker sits higher then the cab corner. I had to modify that to get it to line up right. The door lined up great, nice and straight. Eventually i got the rocker nice and straight also...

Here is the gap in the rocker i had to fix.

Yes, i dont think i mentioned that. Its a 454. Still has semi stock heads. Using a set of 049 heads instead of the ones on there now... few other added goodies...

hahah.. Yep. I basically am building this the way i have always wanted one. I have ALWAYS wanted a big block.. I dont care if the big block made less power then a 327 or something, i just wanted a big block. I always wanted ridiculously big rims. I wanted an adjustable suspension.... two tone... So, im building it the way i pictured it as a kid.... Its coming good.

Re: My build. Project Karma. 71 stepside.

That thing looks WAY too tall. maybe its on its side, but the air cleaner in straight up and down. Whats the deal???

Almost looks like you have a straight 6 sitting on top of a 350. LOL

Re: My build. Project Karma. 71 stepside.

Hey Lyrikz... I wanted to give ya an update on the 250 that came out of your truck. It is still running great and gets around 20mpg in town with the 3speed standard and 3.73's. I am getting rid of the 72 it is in so there will be a new owner soon but I wanted to let you know it sure has been a great running motor for me.

Good luck with the big block.

Good to hear I really liked that motor. It sat and fired right up. I had one issue with it once where it died when you put the clutch in.. Come to find out, my freakin gas tank was full of crap. The fuel filter was clogged. ahaha.

My 454 is doing good. Put the cab on this weekend. Need to notch teh bottom of the cab to clear the driveline. ahaah

Re: My build. Project Karma. 71 stepside.

In fact, that's the only problem I ever had with it. I had to change the whole tank out though to stop getting rust. I am about to see it but before it goes I will take some pics of in the truck and post em for ya.

They fit perfect, they are BABY smooth. There are two small casting lines that need to be wetsanded. Thats it...... I was going to undercoat them to help protect from cracks...

I got em on ebay, 400 bucks for both. I dont remember his name anymore...

I have a response to the fender question finally... Not much work.. I just sanded them down with a DA and some 220.. sprayed a few coats of featherfill, and they are good to go....

All my neighbors are cool. Never once had an issue.... No smell really...

Stuff is called ALSLINER.com It was 90 bucks shipped for a gallon... Now, you need to have a special gun for it.. Its only 40 bucks or so, and you desperatly need a big compressor cause that gun is just huge and runs the WHOLE TIME. There are definetly tips and tricks on how to get it on right.

First time i used it i just pulled the trigger and i went through a gallon SUPER QUICK.... Then i read the instructions and saw you can adjust your flow by just pulling the trigger lightly and it gives you a more linex type look... they also have a flattening agent so it would match linex identically.. i like the shine though.... Im not using it to keep damage out of the bed from hauling stuff, just my kids.... I love this stuff..
