Re: Wickid 54 build

This is the start of the rear rails. Rails are going from 3X4 to 3X3 up over the axle. The rails will stay that height all the way around since I have raised my bed so much. I am running a satchel rear link set up. More details to come, thanks for the complements guys helps me not rush through the project and do it half ass.

Re: Wickid 54 build

very good build I like the frame work, seems to me building a frame is a more work than having to redo a stock frame, unless stock is the way your going.

Re: Wickid 54 build

I feel like the custom frames are easier than stock, if you are not trying to build a road race truck. Trying to have a 5" ride height with correct suspension geometry requires a lot of cutting.

Re: Wickid 54 build

Here is some updated pics of the chassis progress is slow due my work, school schedule. I am running a satchell link suspension on the truck. There is no packaging problems and your roll center is low plus I don't have to mess with the pan hard bar. Reason I mention this you can see how close my inner frame bracing comes to the driveshaft. You want the lower links as close to the center of the truck as posiiable. With this setup I can achive it. On another note while setting up my rearend found out 12bolts dont have a centered yoke. anyways hope you like what you see.

Re: Wickid 54 build

Being 5'6" would give you more room for system or cleaning supplies.

Re: Wickid 54 build

It has been a little while since I have been on here. Wanted to give you guy’s some up dates on the chassis. All the fab is done as far as chassis goes; there are still some brackets to be made for motor and tranny but there in the works. My satchel link setup turned out better than expected I scratched the aluminum links and went with DOM. I want the center section to resemble a rib cage and I think I nailed it. Anyways hope you guys like it. I am currently re doing some work on my doors and hope to have the cab wrapped up by the end of the summer. Chassis should be on the ground by May maybe. Also have a little girl due in June I am excited about that. Nothing like a girl fixing her boyfriends car, wouldn’t stay her boyfriend for long gear heads for life.

Re: Wickid 54 build

Thanks guys I'm pulling the rear end out and having it cut down tomorrow. In the next couple of weeks I am going to get it setup to do my finish welding. I am going to weld everything i can from the top side then stick the chassis table on my rotisserie and roll it so that my bottom side welds look good too.

Re: Wickid 54 build

I had a few minutes today to throw the panels on the truck. I have been stressing out over what the stance was going to look like. I had to hang the sheet metal to give me a profile and this is what I got!
