Very Interesting...did anybody notice the difference between the (Chevrolet) text size and placement between these two grills...I did and had to keep looking at it...

It is most noticeable in the spacing at the ends near the turn signals...

70LongbedC20 - where did that grill come from?

Also - not to thread jack...but I got to ask (last picture)

Was the stock 69/70 outer grill painted (Chevrolet) or was it not...I have seen both and am not sure which was stock...

Re: Let's see '70 front ends

See, these are the types of questions that made me ask for 100% detail correct. I don't know what's right. Maybe, as noted above, there were variations from the factory.

Re: Let's see '70 front ends

Mine (Blazer-last pic in post 28) had the letters around the headlights on the outer shell but most has came off...I don't know about on the letters,I don't see where there was black paint there.

Re: Let's see '70 front ends

The grille on my Suburban has a little of the black paint remaining around the headlights(you can bearly see it in the pic), and very little left on the letters. All '69 and '70 grilles most likely had the headlight trim and letters painted, it just didn't hold up very well.

Good question! Damn, I don't know where the grille came from. It has been on the truck since I got it, so it's at least 3 years old. Can someone identify it as being from another year? The truck was imported from Texas, it is not a European model. Maybe someone put some Chinese/Taiwanese product on it before I took possession.

Are the letters recessed or raised? The pics makes them look raised. Aftermarket grill can be had blank and it looks like the PO may have applied a trim piece with raised letters from a later truck (maybe a tailgate trim piece in the 90's?).

They are raised letters. I have to say that whoever did it took some time and I think it looks kind of slick.

Re: Let's see '70 front ends

Can you get a close up of the letters - maybe the old owner bought a generic grill and then embossed the letters from behind and painted them on the front...

Re: Let's see '70 front ends

Best front end to have IMO.

Even though my outer is worn and dinged, it still has the original 70 inner grill which I prefer over the 69 eggcrate look.
