Re: Rods N' Wheels / George Barris disappointment

The funny thing is,George Barris had nothing to do with rods. He's a customizer, not a hot rodder. Any car guy knows there's a difference. That's why one of the first magazines was called "Rod & Custom". Not saying the two never mixed, but Barris did Customs. I didn't even know there was any association with Barris till I saw the title to this thread.

Ok,that would make sense. I must have slept through that part. I didn't even see the whole paintball idiocy on the Skylark either. I saw "enough"

I'm glad I DVR'ed it so I could fast forward through most of it. What a train wreck indeed.

After this thread I forced myself to watch an episode.....never again.... I would rather watch Harry Potter with my three year old grand daughter for the 400th time

Re: Rods N' Wheels / George Barris disappointment

Someone brought it up on another board that the father and son (the "salesmen") were on another "reality" show: "Million Dollar Listing". I actually watch those shows too (don't judge me) and remember the episode. The son was a new Realtor that co-listed his dad's house with one of the main guys. The dad was a complete DB on that show and the kid hardly talked. I knew the first time I saw this show I had seen them before.

Re: Rods N' Wheels / George Barris disappointment

The tv was still on Discovery Channel when I walked into the living room and saw this show long enough to see the Mr Soul Chip "bragging" to the woody guys what a rust bucket of rust buckets that Pontiac wagon had been as a way to put across why it's worth $40k with no interior work done. That show is a waste of electricity. Yeah,I'd like to have a really nicely done turn key cool old car,but only if it started out as a total rust bucket

Re: Rods N' Wheels / George Barris disappointment

Maybe we should all contact PBS and ask for some old time hard core restoration (and/or HOT ROD) shows like they use to have. I remember a guy showing how to recreate a tail light lens for some euro car. He was lack luster as a TV personality but I recall being glued to the TV. watching every detail.

http://www.pbs.org/about/contact/

A bit of comic relief I can deal with (Top Gear- BBC) drama? no thanks!
Flashy, goofy, hack work? Not interested.

Rant over!
