It's funny that you post that picture Tim. I actually do own a flamethrower. I've never used it. I just bought it years ago because I thought it was cool. It's around here....Somewhere.

That stupid bird is still going at it all night. I thought it was gone because it was quiet one night. But then the next night it was right back at it.

With a nod to the Beatles -- Blackbird singing in the dead of night? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3yAR4_xr9g

Also, how's your street light / security light situation? Artificial lighting can confuse birds, make them think day is coming and it's time to make noise.

Re: To Kill a Mockingbird.

Ha Ha, that's a good song to relate. That made me think of The Nighthawks, band my brother in law was in. Went to YouTube and the first video of theirs... perfect!

I never mess around with fire or firearms for that matter. Some things should be taken seriously.

My fire pit is down for the summer. No fires. And my guns are locked up in my safe. The bills are paid.

I'm responsible about some things... Not much...But some.

Re: To Kill a Mockingbird.

Man, I thought for sure a flamethrower would be the solution. With all the earthquakes, mudslides, crazy '60s mass murder cults, and all night bird singathons I overlooked their concern for wildfires.

Looks like this bird issue could be a shopper's delight. So many products to buy!

Re: To Kill a Mockingbird.

Paul, the link I posted above is a short video with blackbird's sounds..... not an old Beatles song. Is that what your bird sounds like? Years ago there was one that used to wake me up in the wee hours. Noisy little buggers, especially when you're trying to sleep!

Re: To Kill a Mockingbird.

I've heard birds singing at night here and figured it was a mocking bird. A real collection of sounds. But it doesn't keep me up so I haven't listened that hard. I fall asleep wondering why they call at night when smart birds lay low to escape the owls. I hear them plenty

I have to admit. I didn't watch the video because I thought it was an old Beatles video and I've heard that song a million times before.

It's hard to tell if those blackbirds are what I'm hearing. They sound alike but seem to be more repetitive where as this bird changes his chirping constantly.
It is interesting to hear it. Just not all night long.

Hour one= That's cute.

Hour two= This is getting annoying.

Hour three= Okay this is getting really annoying.

Hour four= I really need to sleep.

Hour five= Where's that flamethrower.

Re: To Kill a Mockingbird.

That videos shows the blackbirds making their last call at dusk. The on3e I hear is all over the place with it's calls, as if mocking every other bird. They never seem to repeat the same one. "Is anyione listening? Maybe this one will grab them"
