The New prosess 435 is not a close ratio trans perhaps you mean the Np 445 witch is a close raito trans .

If you are not happy with that replacment one you found, I would look in to Dodge, since they are pretty much where the first ones to use the New Process 435 , The NP 435 was used in dodge trucks since the early 60s all the way to 93 , So you may have better luck in your search for a OEM one with proper fitment.

It is considered a close ratio trans in the GM application. Especially compared to the SM420/SM465. IF you ordered the close ratio truck 4 speed, your got a NP435.

NP435 Four-Speed (Truck)
Type First Gear Second Gear Third Gear Fourth Gear
All 4.78 2.39 1.37 1.00

Re: Find My Shift Boot..

I was linked to this thread since I just came across the same issue. Ironically, my 68 C20 is a 396 4sp just like Astro-Balls, and apparently with the same NP435 transmission as well

From the SPID: "HD 4 SPD CR TRANS"
