cut it. its a truck not some beloved million dollar piece of art its just metal cut it and put the radio where you can actually reach it and use it

Thanks tons for the input guys! What would GM do today if a 71' style truck was for sale....you bet they'd put it in the dash. In still leaning towards cutting but I'm not quite ready to do it...gonna think on it a bit. A CAS radio is not an option...I've heard they are over rated Pieces of Sheet.

I'm a vote for not cutting the dash,But lucky me someone has already Hacked mine,and it looks terrible.I'd buy a unit that will fit the dash,and get a remote CD changer,but that's just me.

Page 84-5 of LMC's CB.38 catalog, right? Those are CAS units and speakers/mounts.

Yes they are and they suck...big time! Don't waste your money on those USA-1 or CAS decks....they are junk...why do you think JC Sh!tney sells them...ah err ummm.... JUNK!

cut it Ihad a 84 k10 I cut it and was very happy with it . When I sold it I welded backup and put a nice trim plate back on the radio. looked good

Well I have not cut either my 71 or the 72. I'm not sure if I ever will. So in the mean time I have gotten two of the old style units. Still need to put them in....lol

But like the others have said it's really what you want to do. I would say if it was a hack job anything would look ugly. And after seeing your Detail work that will not happen.

My opinion on the matter is as follows.
If you are absoloutly sure you want to cut it, DO IT! And Don't look back.

If you are not sure, don't do it. At least until you are absoloutly sure you wan't to cut it.

Did anyone see the Vortec truck with the I5 that was built by GM this year??? They took a 48 Chevy cab, frontend, and rear fenders and whacked the crap out of the ENTIRE truck, and mated it all to a S-10 frame and modified S-10 bed with their new Vortec I5. GM whacked a truck....a 48 at that.... we're not talking about a bone stock 57 bel air....its a truck!!! Be neat and cut away!!

Not sure what you are talking about 67ChevyRedneck. Are you talking about the Chevy SSR's? If so, they are pretty sweet. I test drove one awhile back and if they didn't cost close to $50k I would be owning one.

I like my radio where it was desinged to be installed. Cut the dash install your cd player you will be happy you did. I am going to cut the dash on my 72 2wd cst c-5 when I am ready. JUST DO IT!

Not the SSR..... Chevy wanted to showcase thier new inline 5 motor for the new colorado's so they whacked the crap out of a 48 chevy, threw in some S-10 parts, and put in the motor. Slice the dash. If you were building up a highly optioned rare bone-stock truck, don't do it, but for a truck with some modification that you plan on driving, slice it and put in a good strereo.

Oh, I see 67ChevyRedneck. That's a sweet looking truck. Actually that is my favorite chevy truck model. I don't own one yet but i've been looking for one for about 8 years now. It's tough to find an older 3100 that's doesn't need a complete body overhaul.
