got some work done today! biggest thing was that my dad, uncle, and me (mostly them) fabbed up a power steering pump bracket



Took about 2.5 hrs to make but diffidently worth having power steering. The engine and transmission are bolted back up and are ready to be dropped back in, the engine bay has been cleaned some more and all the bare metal has been covered. today i also put a nice paint job on my valve cover looks better in person, I'm not sure why the paint looks like a pumkin shade in the pics but i hope to have the script striped over.


One more work day and the engine will be in the truck. pumped is an understatement since as of last monday i could legally drive.

Love Russ. I grew up on a 69 C10 250 3 On TT and a 67 Biscayne (strippo impala) 250 3OTT, have my dad's 81 3/4 ton 250 3OTT in parts in the back yard, an 84 250 auto chassis in the back yard, and picked up a 77 GMC 1/2 ton integral head 250 3OTT, no options *and I mean none!* ex road commision truck.
Integral heads started in 75 IIRC on cars, and 77 I think on trucks. Somewhere 80-81 they went integral 2bbl. There also was a shift in belt spacing that appears to be linked with integral heads, which affects balancers and brakcets and water pump pulleys.

dropped the engine in today! only thing that didn't go to plan was that the starter from the 79 inline didn't fit the older one oh well. exhaust work goin on tomorrow!

welp mostly just tooled around today but my dads buddy came over he's gonna bend up a pipe for my exhaust. The man runs a custom golf cart shop he's a pretty cool guy, anyways he usually has some vehicles sitting around at his shop that are headed to the scrap yard and he has given me dibbs on anything off a high option 76! pretty stoked anyways here's Russ's new ticker! (i apologize on account of the pic, yes i took it with a potato)



need a starter, exhaust pipe, reinstall drive shafts, and some carb linkage the list is slowly getting smaller!

little late on the update but i have had oodles of homework. last weekend we put the radiator back in, hooked up some hoses and all that good stuff. We also fixed the shift lever and reattached the tranny linkage. biggest thing that happened was that we created some carb linkage



works like a charm too! if all goes as planned the truck will be road worthy by monday

last week we put an exhaust pipe on and figured out the timing. It fired right up on the first turn of the key! man was i happy. Took it out on the maiden voyage and other than the clutch being a little off it was excellent.

had some complications took it out and a drive and (not sure of the technical term) this pipe kept coming off of a bolt it covers. the pipe works with the clutch pedal. Me and my friend pulled into random driveways 3 times to set up shop and fix it... and burnt our hands way more times then that (should have waited for the exhaust to cool hehe..) anyway itll be another week or two until i can depend on it :/

also on a different note does anyone know the whereabouts of a step by step on how to wire in an aftermarket stereo? itd be greatly appreciated

Russ is all fixed up. somehow we forgot the transmission support bolts... that caused the tranny to move and linkage to come apart.

I know most of you guys don't care about mpg but I figured it's worth bragging about that I got 19 mpg running rich with a screwed up carb!

I was scared the other day because i got 12 mpg! being a high school student i wouldnt be able to afford that. I even considered using the extra automatic transmission we got with the grand national for the overdrive... but the next few trips I've been getting 18-20. the difference was i went on the turnpike when i got 12.. the 250 loses allllll economy at 70. I got up there but it took a long time.

transmission mount broke the other day while i was under peer pressure.... so i drove home in first gear and after trips to lowes, napa, and rural king we managed to get russ back to a fully functioning state.

so i took the liberty of cutting the cluster up... in the top ill be installing a cb radio and in the lower hole ill be putting in a radio

another thing is that i took alllll the duck tape off the shift knob it took longer than you would think... anyways it makes a big difference to me that i dont get all that gooey adhesive all over my hand while i drive.

tennis season just finished and school is a few days from ending so hopefully ill be getting some more work done on the truck!

Square guys are great there are two I see a lot on the road. There's a stepper and an 86 (im 99% sure) 4x4 farm truck rear window guard and all.. Whenever we meet on the road they honk to me and they even honk goin by the house when they see Russ parked out front... I really want to honk back however my truck is hornless so i picked up some semi horns from harbor freight

On another note what do you guys think of this?



I'm thinking build something similar and use a two barrel then later down the line ad all the fuel injection parts as opposed to a buying an suck through carb and bolt on a supercharger off a pontiac bonniville. I found a guy local on craigslist who sells rebuilt ones for 200 bucks
