I heard that front 1.25" sway bars were rare, that's what's on mine. The AM radio in my truck has the knobs with chrome inserts, too. Most ones I've seen are all black.

What option are you refering to then? You say it has no options...

The choke delete was pretty rare. I think I have only seen one in person. I've always been under the impression that the cigar lighter was common, wasn't it in the lowest option package? Radios may have been low option, I'll have to dig out the red book tomorow. (not at home right now)

My truck had more options than most.the factory options on the glove box can be seen by looking at my home page. The dealer add ons were cab running lights, search spotlight, cruise control, air horn w/vac. pump, hood ornament, towing package with trans. cooler, front bumper guards.

franko72, I've been sitting here playing with a photo manipulation program and I thought you might like this pic from your site cleaned up a little. On my monitor it was pretty hard to read, but when I did this, I was able to make out all but one or two.

There used to be a member that talked about some special blue side glass he had that was supposed to be an ultra rare option. Any of you guys remember that??? I can't remember his username though.

Acording to the red book (ISBN 0-87341-933-2);
tach (all years) 1.16%
AM Radio (67 - 70) 37%
am/fm radio (71/72 only) 2%
Tilt (only listed in 71 and 72) 5%
Body paint stripe (painted pin stripes..68,69,70,72 only) 6%
buckets seats (67,68,and 72 only) 22% (interesting point, 67 had 61% alone)
Shoulder harnesses (67/68 only) 1%
Center seat belt (68 & 70 only) 1%
A/C (67,70,71 only) 14%
Wood bed floor (67/68) 36%
3 speed manual w/OD.(67 - 69) 1%
speed warning (67 only) 2%
Tool Box (72 only) 6%
Roof mounted clearance lamps (68 only) 2%
Overload springs both leaf and spring (67,68,70) 26%

These numbers represent the year(s) listed. The book does not cover every option for every year. Example, Cruise Control was only mentioned in 68 with no production numbers listed at all. When listed more than one year, I averaged out between years listed.
Option percentages only include trucks that the option was avalible.
ie; step sides only had wood, longhorns only had wood, so 36% of the 6 1/2 foot and 8 foot fleetsides were so equipped.

Ah yes, Longhorn_Man speaks, as to humble the masses. Slick set of numbers!

I suspected the paint stripe was pretty rare, as I've never seen mention of it on this board. This thread made me grab a pic of the glovebox lid and the fender with stripe showing:

Too bad, this stripe won't be there much longer, but we are planning to replicate it on the final job.

Oh yeah, and what's the percentage that came with the Fram air filter like mine?

Andy,
maybe they meant out of all K/5's equipped with tops, 94% had white and 6% had black.

One off paint colors for fleet/gov. are rare.My uncle worked at a navy ammo facility. He had a 68 c10 short stepside,(battleship gray)! He got it new and drove it until 1976 when he retired,a 250/6,3 speed. It had no option sticker.

There is a truck on a local "classic" car dealership in town that has a (looks to be a 71 or 72) truck with that side bed toolbox. Truck is loaded...A/C, power brakes, power steering, etc... and is white (top and bottom) with a faded yellow middle section. I can't bring myself to ask the price. They are know for being "proud" of their inventory.

Throttle up

My 72 GMC Sierra has a somewhat unusual manual throttle option. How abou that??? I had a 69 truck with factory shoulder harness. But it is the only one I had ever seen. I have owned 3 Highlander 72,s, and I am very partial to them. Maybe some of the rareest options of all are special paint options. Schemes that were done in limited numbers for special orders. It would be cool to know for sure.

Door operated dome light?

I heard that a door switch for the dome light was an option at least up to '69. That so?
