I bought the AMT '72 Chevy longbed kit [amt 6691] several years ago with the intention of kitbashing it somehow into a 3-Door Sub. Still have it -- got side-tracked rebuilding the 292 on my '68 stepside -- and have not got back to modeling. Also collected the SpecCast 87021 '67 U.S.P.O. Panel truck. And somewhere I have an AMT kit of the GMC Stepside. I even collected the Wix promo '69 Blazer.
I thought if I switch the '67 grille from the Panel kit onto the nose of the stepside kit it would be like my '68 Stepside. [Unfortunately the SpecCast Panel kit is in 1/29th (!?) scale and not 1/25th as are the AMT and Wix kits.] But the GMC grille from the stepside kit would fit on the Wix Blazer, becoming a Wix Jimmy! A pair of '67/'68 grilles for the stepside kit and a '67 Suburban, as well as a '67 3-Door Sub body would be real cool. I could possibly simulate the early slant-nose with a flat file, some sheet styrene and testors body putty.
So yes I want some trick plastic scale parts please.

Heck, you're right! My AMT kit is 1/25th. Well, that makes my SpecCast diecast '67 panel truck an even smaller scale. 1/26th, 1/27th...1/30th?
The length of the Panel truck model is the same as the length of my 1/25th scale Wix Blazer [which was originally off the AMT mold]. And I know in real life a k/5 is a good 3 or 4 feet shorter than a suburban.
The SpecCast is a good model, with opening doors [fronts and barndoors] just not a constant scale. So cannibalizing its front grille for a '68 Stepside project isn't do-able.
I guess I'll have to revise my above post. Thanks.
Yeah, Monogram used to put out what they called "Box Scale" kits. At least in model planes. Where a 2 engine B-25 was the same size as a 4 engine B-24 Liberator, so the boxes could be the same size on the shelf. It was the Brits with Airfix constant scale 1/72 kits that changed the hobby industry.

Way Cool. Do you think you could make a scale 67/68 Clip as a separate part? (I have a GMC stepside kit that only wants a '68 Chevy nose to be the perfect little voodoo doll of my real truck.)

Re: Suburban Plastic Model(pics...)

Modelhaus has 67/68 grills and hoods that fit the 72 pickup kits. How is the burb kit coming? I am still in for at least one. Thanks, Bob

Thanks Pilgrim. I'll try ModelHaus. Also still interested in a 3-Door Sub model.

Re: Suburban Plastic Model(pics...)

Modelhaus has kits for 58 and 59 Chevy pickups (converting 57 Cameo kits) and a 64, 65, 66 Chevy two ton cab and other parts to convert a Mack R Model to a two ton Chevy. They have a good catalog to browse in.

Star Models offers a 72 Chevy Burb kit for $48.00 under their "R+R Resin" heading on their home page. Just came across it.

Finally got the last page to work. Did you notice that the tailgate is not a burb profile, its a truck/blazer.
