My truck was owned by an old biker chick. I found 40 nude Polariods from a biker rally in '74. Now everyone calls my truck the Hairy Hauler.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

When I got my '51 back in '96 I found some nice parts under the seat. Some nice emblems and the original hood ornament...in perfect condition... In my '62, all my brother left me in there was a ton of trash, and about 25 empty beer cans...

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

I found two very old joints under the dash in the defroster tube, they were petrified. My truck had some wierd strapping under the bed (which I removed) I think it was used to haul marijuana at some time. i bought the truck from an old hippy.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

current link to the Stovebolt thread : Things you found in your Stovebolt when you bought it ?

The URL changed a bit after some software upgrades... and my above post is too old to edit.

That SB thread was started, after I read Piper71c10's first post in this thread, here.

It now has 293 replies... some of which are pretty strange.

So, if you have a rainy day at the computer... it is amusing reading.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

I was cutting a section of cab corner to weld a rust spot, and smelled someone smoking a joint. Turns out I was burning what was left of a bag stashed in the corner. I didn't see it when I cleaned the truck out. It was stuck between all the dirt and rust. To bad it was some nasty home grown.

You guys are a lot luckier than this ol man. I found one mouse nest, several mud dauber nests, some really old match books, a couple red Co-Op flags and some balers twine. I have to admit though mine wsa owned by my grandpa and then my dad....very utilitarian!

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

When I tore the rubber matting out of my 79 I found 4 extra transfer case trim bolts in there. I guess they dropped them and got 4 more instead. That was about it.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

I found half an arrowhead, a little pocket knife, a million toothpicks, two nos fan belts stuck behind the springs of the seat, and a million camel cigerette proof of purchases. I haven't dug under the dash or behind the gas tank yet so more treasure may be in store for me.

Re: The Rewards of Owning an Old Truck..

I found a receipt for the upholstery that totaled 1/2 what I paid for the truck.

I felt even better about the deal I got after finding that.

The best thing I found in the cab though: no rust.
