Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
All of the stepvans and delivery vans that have been customized seemto have that ice cream truck theme. Overdone in my opinion, and I'd feel weird cruising the neighborhood looking for kids. It just isn't right.

welcome to the board, from upstate NY. i'm sort of a purist, i suppose... in that i think you should keep interior mods to a tasteful minimum. as much as "ice cream" has been done to death, so has "tiki" and most other THEMES. it's not a prom, for christ's sake... it's a truck! how bout you add some subtle high quality AV equip, and maybe some cofortable seating for potential passengers, but keep the rest utility... as was the purpose of the truck to begin with. this is only my .02. i think TRUCKS were meant for MEN to use as TRUCKS

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
Me likey...likey. I want one now.
Add it to the list I guess. Go to the photoshop area of this site...those guys can hook it up with some paint options for ya....I would like to see the roof and very lower part of the truck be a diff color....like two tone it somehow. Anyways...WELCOME. And you will not find any better info or people than on this site. I have learned years worth of info in a day it feels like sometimes. lol Good Luck

When I was in VietNam, our Ford Econoline van was replaced with a new '69 P10 Stepvan. So, I have a thing for these things, too.
Welcome to the board from the Heart of Arkansas!!

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
Man, you could make a sweet hauler with that. Paint it like a delivery truck outside and make a nice camper/RV inside to take to shows. The university where I work has two P30 step vans from the mid 70's and they use that same 67-72 style grill. It looks like the same grill the BIG 67-72's use.
Love the stance in the first pic.....

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
Well you were right, I've been hangin out and lurking over in the Suburban forum and I think I'm hooked. I'll be selling at least one or two ford projects this week on ebay. I have saved about 50 or more pics of 67-72 & 73-91 2wd lowered suburbans. I will probably end up buying one before the summers out

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
Welcome from 110+ degree Phoenix AZ!
That is one of the coolest rides on the board. The fact that you daily drive it is just killer! I say modify the frame, leave it the way it is, and lay the doors on the ground. It looks great, but would look even better sitting on its belly (and thats not even my style).

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
You know, Those Escalade guys would have nothing on you in the a/v dept. You could put dual 36" monitors in your headrests and have a couple of the coin operated massage chairs in the back with the doors open at the shows. Be pretty cool on some head to head racing games.

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
WAY COOL! I think the white looks better than would bare alum. I say leave it white and do the tikki stuff on both the inside and outside. It would make and awesome swap meet hauler too.
One more thing that I think would look right at home on it is some chevrolet logo hub caps. |

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
That P10 is stupid hot! I totally dig the Tiki / Surf theme. If it were mine I'd woody panel that sucka, slap a couple long boards on top, fab up some safari tilt out windshields and sliding canvas sunroof (a la old skool V-Dub Microbuses) and roll it with my hula girl bobble doll.
True for installing a audio/visual system that'll make your brain hurt!

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
I love it.It`s welcome. You`re welcomeWouldn`t change a thing. The motor/trans is a way cool touch.Just run split pipes out the back and, maybe pop stock wheel covers on there from time to time for a change. It`s way past cool as it sits.I wouldn`t clutter it.A stripper pole and bar on one side is all it needs.Well...and mirrors.
I have to wait for Saturday to hit Carlisle.I just need a set of GM car dog dishes for my`67 GMC project and a sausage, then I`m outta there(yeah, right?)

Re: Is my unique 72 welcome here?
Done, posted 15 pics over in the "Post Your Ride 67-72 Trucks"
I guess I really "step"ed in it now. I can't get away from the computer with all of these responses. THANKS!!!! for all the great ideas and compliments. Gibbs Oil is now on my list of "have to get and try" The interior will be removable because I plan to use it as a hauler, show vendor truck with removable shelves, then quick release seats and Velcro'd fancy walls and seats for the show field when it's done. It will be "transformer" stye interior LOL. I really like the idea of safari front windows!!! Now how do I do that??? It's my new mission. I already have plans for a 80" long VW Bus ragtop slider roof, but that will require some aluminum frame building and I can't weld aluminum...yet :-) Need to find someone who is good locally to teach me or do it for me. |
