Re: i need help

Looks like one of the hundreds of Chevy 2 barrel manifolds I've scrapped in my lifetime. I would start looking for just about any 2 barrel Chevy carb you can find...Looks like 500 CFM is the most common size on 8 cyl engines so anything off a 8 cyl chevy should work. If you were in the US just about any salvage yard would be able to help you find one but there i don't know.

Re: i need help

after few weeks of waiting my carb is finaly here. and now i have one question.
on the back side of plate, where carb attaches to manifold, there is one hole. there used to be some kind of plug but it seams to weird to me. what do you think is it ok or it should be something else here?

Re: i need help

looks to me like the spot you would normally attach the vaccuum line for the brake booster...maybe someone else here has a better idea

Re: i need help

it's not booster type. and i found it's conected wit steering pump so....
so when i look from logic side of mine brain' thoigh my father says there is no logic whatsoever in my head, this rubber plug will be norma. it will expand just enough to apsorb impuls...am i right?

and there is mess under that hood. there is so much strange hoses...i'll try to conect them as they were but it want hurt to ask. so here are the pics...

so A goes on A, and B goes on B?

and yes what is that black thing circled in greean, and there is one hose pluged with bolt, that on cicled in red?

Re: i need help

is there a label on the radiator support that says "emissions" and has a line drawing on it?
if not i'll take a pic of mine tonight and post it or send it to you....it should show all the hoses and where they connect.

Re: i need help

Redneck: I'll do some looking around and see if I can't come up with a shop manual related to your vehicle. It may not be exactly the right year but it will be as close as I can get. I can't make any promises though. Send me your e-mail address. Mine is jmcclur2@nycap.rr.com. jim

Re: i need help

so, it's sunday morning here. i spent whole last night freezing my but( my wood stove is to small to heat up my shop) working on that jap scooter i promissed my cousin i'll rebuild for him. and than something went through my mind. i took chilton's manual i got and start investigate my engine. what i noticed that chilton's is not so good as haynes. there is so little pics and graphics in chilton's. but what the heck, i only got this one.
so what i noticed is that i don't have EVAP canister. than i relize i should go way back and i finaly need to know what year is my engine. it's should be 79/80 from chevy van. but i don't trust that anymore. does anybody knowes where i could find engine serial number?
also i noticed that radiator is from diesel, because it has outlets for oil cooler.
so what i plan to do is tu put johny cash cd in radio, try to find evry single thing that has vacum line on it and than try ti figure it oput how to conect them on carb.
i worked on harleys 6 years as mechanc, and this is my first car i'll rebuild and man so much lines is so cofusing

and yes there is one thing that i can't find i manual. you can see it in pic. what is it?

so, i wish you all to have good sunday
