Re: Who else is a boater? Lets see some pics.

G'day 69,
Just gotta love the old woody's!! Here are a few shots of mine. Was in the build for about 18 - 24 months and then with a few lifes changes it all stopped and has been in storage awaiting completion for the last 6 years.

The engine is a 3.8litre Buick V6 which are commonly found in some of the local cars over here. I have a soft clutch set up on it at the moment but have recently picked up a 2 speed powerglide that I hope to adapt (reverse will be handy).

All of the shiny bits have been made by myself and are of 316 Stainless Steel. 20 hours in the steering wheel and a solid 18 hours in the guage surround.

The hull has been fully reskinned from bow to stern and the graphics were laid on by a mate in a weekend. Can't wait to get in on the water but still maybe another season off yet.

Here are few pics of a "typical day on the Delta." My son took a couple of his friends out on my Hallet "flat", & I rode with Jerry Jones in his Stevens "flat."

Not all of the pics are strictly boats & I apologize for that.

My son, Andrew, & his friends setting up for a pass "at speed"
Ditto for Jerry.

Re: Who else is a boater? Lets see some pics.

nothing fancy from my budget. but you have to admit, they sure had style back then.
first is my 65 Johnson 17' with the original 100hp Golden Meteor I GPS'd @ 38MPH on a 2 mile long lake. it comes out of the hole like a door slamming drag car. I always wondered what it would do with a different prop

next is my current ride. a 1971 Alumacraft Jamaica 15' since my boys showed no interest in tubing I decided to get this for the wife and I to strictly fish. it planes out at 28MPH and trolls down to 1.3 at idle. last winter I built removable front and rear casting decks with a livewell in each, 2 Lowrance sonars, a 65PD AP minnkota, and tuned up the old Mercury 500. I got it from the original owner and he used it for a total of 6 years. the rest of it's life was spent in his garage under cover except for when he waxed it and winterized it yearly.

finally a link to my next boat. I will get it early next summer when the Taho is paid off and they are making killer deals.
http://www.alumacraft.com/2012-model...ort/175-sport/
I will get it with the 150 Yamaha and walk-through windshield.

nothing like progression, 1965 ($600)-1971($500)-2012(so broke I will have to catch my own bait)
