Re: 20 inch staggered Boss 338

Like i said before 5 on 5 bolt patern is not used on anything except chevy truck and old stuff like belairs and biscayne
it kinda of seems a waist to spend 2 grand on a set of wheels and tires if your truck is only worth 6 grand, thats like a guy buying a new corvette and spending $20000.on a set of rims that will only fit his vette, dont make the same mistake i have and put hard money down on a set of rims that you will just about give away when you sale the thing.buy a bolt patern that fits just about any car you would be intrested in buying later keep the wheels that are on it in storage and when you sale the thing put them back on. .5 on 4.75 or 5 on 4.5 and use adapters ,ive never seen an adapter fail and no one has ever said any thing about any of my cars ,i know this might not apply to those guys that keep there cars forever but for the guys like me who are always looking for that next project this might help

I saw a set of these rims on a black 68 recently They were 18" on all four corners. The guy said the rears were 9.5". They looked slick with the smooth black paint. I wish I would have taken pics.

Re: 20 inch staggered Boss 338

I saw this sweet little bagged truck at the Des Moines Goodguys event this past weekend. It has a set of 20x8.5 Boss 338's on it.
I wish I had know about the front hub issues,... so I could have asked the owner about it. They are a sweet looking wheel. This truck had 1" spacers on the rear wheels.
Also,... it was running 275/40-20's and 255/35-20's for tires.

Re: 20 inch staggered Boss 338

that is one nice truck and i like the coys the only thing about coys is you have to order them from coy they dont have distributors so if you have a problem you will have to ship them back to coy .ive had 2 sets of coys and never had any problems but rember if you mount tire on your wheels and have a fitment problem you can not return or exchange the wheels

Re: 20 inch staggered Boss 338

Hey Justbad...don't want to go without mentioning how nice your truck looks also. I wonder how big the hole is in the back of those 338's that go over the hub. Width and depth...next time you have a tire off maybe you can measure that. I'm running Baer brakes on mine, don't know if that's the same as stock or not but I would doubt that it is.

Re: 20 inch staggered Boss 338

I spoke to a local wheel shop he told me the chrome 20 x 8.5, 20 x 10 combo is on backorder. Also said it has a rears has a 6 1/4 back space. Thats a little concerning for me. He recommended using a 1 1/4 spacer. That adds up to 11 1/4. Will that even fit a 72 fleet with a 6 inch drop? He said it should, but would try it out on one of his employees trucks.

not quite. the wheel is still 10 inches wide. 6.25" bs - 1.25" spacer = 5" bs. You're just pushing the wheel out farther with the spacer, which in effect takes away from the backspacing.

Thats true. The 11 1/4 figure is the sum of space the 10 inch wheel and 1 1/4 spacer will occupy.

Re: 20 inch staggered Boss 338

there is another thread that is tracking the wheels from the manufacturer. They are coming out with a "new" design with a larger hub bore and deeper mounting pad to fit our trucks.

and while they may work with stock rotors they have a fitment issue when used with some aftermarket brake systems...like baer for example.
