Re: 72 Custom Camper Saweet!!

That is a great find. Guess I should start looking for one of these rigs in the impounds. That would be a perfect RV for Burning Man or just a week at the beach.

I bet you could make that thing pull a wheelie prety easy with that rear overhang.

Re: 72 Custom Camper Saweet!!

Looking at the truck buckets they have no backs on them, did GM not install backs in the trucks? I guess you would never notice it other than the cab being cut open to the camper.

That`s correct. The truck buckets had no backs. You can put Blazer ones on them.I have a brand new pair of backs. Now will you sell it to me?
Seriously, the line forms here if you decide to go that route...ever.I`m a Custom Camper lover from way back. And,I no longer have any.

"The line form's here" I have no need for it I purchased it to part but can't do it, too cool too clean! If I had more space and time and not 3 young ones that need my time it might be different. I have a need for the engine and some of the parts but after getting it, I decided I need to keep looking for the parts I need. I cant be the one to kill Bertha.....

I paid 2k for it, the owner of the impond lot has had it for years and also liked it and really did not want to part, after some back and forth antics I was the proud owner. Today I went to the DMV with the state impont docs and got it titled in my name, and found out as the new proud owner I had to pay the back taxes on it so im it Bertha just short of 2600, I feel a good deal still..

Re: 72 Custom Camper Saweet!!

I had some requests for these, the interior has a couple problems the center ac vent is mia and the steering wheel has a couple cracks, a aftermarker radio was installed but luckally they didnt cut the dash the seats are almost perfect I found a slight crack in the drivers, the carpet appears to be perfect, I have NOT cleaned the interior in this truck at all this is just the way it came from impound, it is very dusty the seat belts look perfect except for some dust. as well as the console.

Oh man, that thing is junk with that major body damage! I tell you what, just drive it to my place and drop it off, I'll take that eyesore off your hands.

Awesome score.

Re: 72 Custom Camper Saweet!!

i would suggest a couple minor upgrades:

factory tach and whatever other gauges are missing...

petronix electronic ignition conversion.....points suck!

beef up the rear springs packs.....could use a bit more support

adapt sway bars from later gm trucks. the next generation camper special and 1 ton trucks had a 1-/4" front sway bar vs. the 1-1/8 on this era. and perhaps you could adapt the rear sway bar from a next generation dually or cs also....that should keep things on the level!

Re: 72 Custom Camper Saweet!!

i hope someone didn't cut the dash to put that radio in. i'd install one of those vintage looking units that fits just like the factory with a twin speaker upgrade. i want to install the stereo with just the aux input for a mp3 player (no tape deck) in my 72 burb with a dual front speaker and a pair of 6x9's flush mounted in the rear headliner.
