sucks to hear about the smog. 1975 is the cut off year here in cali. im glad too cuz i wouldn't be able to get my jimmy even close to passing

do you have any idea as to whats causing it to fail?

something to do with the carb i beleive just cant get it tuned right

Their used to be places that would guarantee to get you to pass smog. May be worthwhile to pay someone to tune it.

my buddy had to get his carb tuned and if i remember it wasn't too much. something like $65?

yup, ill never run a sbc again.

this is just one random tree of the 30 + that i pulled out. note the big ass pile i am headed for. the cousins on the other half of the job/property were complaining that we were haveing all the fun and not working, my buddies responce was " its nto my fault you didnt bring a seth" LOL!!! also dragged out a few stumps, cars and a old plow disc setup.

finally took to a shop to get the emissons stuff figured out. i lucked out tho its a freind of a freind so he said he would give me somesort of discount for his work lets just hope its still cheap tho

that dam emissions place wanted to charge 700 bycks to get it to pass i said hell no so now idk what to do to get it to pass. goin to take it to see if i can get a one year pass

Shop around at another place. It is probably a carb adjustment or something simple.

it passed the carbonmonoxide but had alot of tunning done wich i think this one could have the same tunning done and make it pass but still cant pass the hydro carbons

Even if the truck doesn't require a cat, why not just put a couple of the cheap aftermarket ones on it? Make them removable so that you can take them off after you get it through emmissions.

1. Make sure that the truck is at full operating temp when they test it.
2. Change the oil - it actually does help
3. Throw a couple cans of dry gas in the tank and put some 91+ ocatane fuel in it.

Where I am anything over 25 years is exempt from emmissions, but I've had to deal with it on some of my newer stuff and the aboved helped me.

The biggest thing is that the truck is at full temp before testing
