Re: Cori's Red 84 short bed

To be honest, I'd go to summit racing web site with a couple thousand dollar bills, and buy a GM Performance crate engine. Drop it in, hook it up, and rock on. When my time bomb blows up, that's what I'm gonna do.

Re: Cori's Red 84 short bed

well guys i have a few questions and a few updates.... I am curently deployed so i cant work on the truck or play with it. but heres what its up to.

I am in the process of buying all new leaf spring bushings and new shocks to put on the truck when i get home. Im also getting rid of the old beat up steering stabilizer and getting a new one from skyjacker. Im also going to try and pick up some new brake lines either SS braided or stock depending on cash when i get back lol..

I was wondering what would be a better shock the skyjacker hydro or nitro?

My wife also told me that the fuel gauge stays past full now so with out being able to look at the truck at all im curious as to what could be causing this. Has any one else had these problems before?

Im also wanting to buy the adapter for the flex a lite fan that i have but ive heard mixed reviews on them. What is every ones opinion on them....

Thanks in advance for the help

Fuel gauge staying past full = bad ground or faulty sending unit. Check the ground 1st...

Re: Cori's Red 84 short bed

I'm not an expert on motors by any means but from what ive learned tinkering with my own trucks and from this website is that you are better off with a clutch fan or some electric fans because having a fan that is fully engaged all the time will use up a few horses.

And if you were still wondering about a cam im using an Edelbrock performer plus cam and lifters set, not a really radical cam it keeps the idle smooth and gets you some more torq on the low end and your gas mileage wont go down the drain either. It can be run with the stock valvetrain so you dont have any complicated head work to do or pay for. i would recommend it if you havent built an engine before because of the ease and its compatibility.

Re: Cori's Red 84 short bed

Hey guys since we just bought the new truck Young Chevy does a thing where they take your picture with you and your vehicle and they post it on their facebook page and you have all of your friends like your picture and the person with the most likes receives a free $100 bucks. Once they post up the pictures i will add a link to the picture here and beg you all to like the picture so i can receive a free $100, that i will be using on truck parts for the red truck.

Re: Cori's Red 84 short bed

Well guys the shocks and steering stabilizer is in the truck now. Now im thinking about pulling the 350 project and putting a SBB 454 in it. Im just not 100% sure what the swap over in tells. As far as ive gathered you have to put the new big block motor mounts in but other then that it should be fairley bolt in, can anyone shed any light on this for me

Re: Cori's Red 84 short bed

Big block swap. Trans and even motor mounts may work. Headers, intake, maybe brackets different. May use same alternator, water pump, fuel pump, carb, plug wires, and distrubutor. BIG GAS HOG.
