Re: Unique engine/drivetrain swaps...let's see 'em!

The PO of the PO of the PO of my truck put a Pontiac 400 in my CST10... Runs and drives well... I'm still a little weirded out by it starter is on the wrong side... The Timing Chain Cover/Water pump combo... and the fuel pump being on the wrong side throw me off all the time... I like Chevy power in my Chevy vehicles...

All great submissions so far

That jet truck is cool, and all those cummins are nice. If I ever wreck my Crew Cab the Dmax is going in the '71! All oil burners rock!

What else we got out there??

Re: Unique engine/drivetrain swaps...let's see 'em!

I have to say I'm kinda fond of the Ford 460 cause that's what I had in my first car. My 72 400 hp Hot Rod Lincoln, that thing was bad ass. I don't think I would want to do the work to put it in a Chevy though mostly cause I'm lazy. I did have a 79 Scottsdale that I put a Olds 350 Rocket in. That was a easy swap I used the Chevy motor mounts and a 2004R Trans with the stock drive shaft hardly no mods even used the Olds power steering pump. Biggest thing was the exhaust.

It depends on what cummins your using. The VE pump motor needs one wire hooked up to run.

Any Cummins up to 1998 is mechanically injected, and like 68GenIII, requires 1 12V wire to injection to run. The same is true for 6.2's to make them, but you do have to run wires from a solenoid to the 8 glowplugs, but it is still very simple.

I haven't seen one in a truck, but I've seen them in cars. Those badboys are badass little 6 bangers!

Re: Unique engine/drivetrain swaps...let's see 'em!

I'm curious as to the big diesel swaps. How are these heavy engine tranny combo's affecting GVW and front GAWR. I have thought a Cummins might be nice in my one ton but I already use up the whole GVW when I haul water with it.

My swap is more of a street rod/daily driver. I'm doing it for reliability, fuel mileage and cool factor. It probably won't ever haul more then a motorcycle or engine block. The Cummins weight is like a big block and snow plow.
