That is proof enough that it should be legal to shoot stupid people who deserve it. Drunk drivers = stupid enough to be shot. Just my opinion.

no doubt, my dad had a 1966 ford thunderbird convertible until a druck hit it out front of our house at 70mph and put the tail lights in the glove box.

we might fix it, it just depends on if it gets totaled or not. if it gets totaled, we would rather not go though the hassle of swapping in all the running gear esp when this truck was my dad's daily driver.

Or buy this one. does not look the best but it's got 1 ton running gear

it's an idea, but again, it would be alot of work, when we don't really have alot of time to work on it.

He was going about 80-90 in a Ford Ranger. Trust me, he got the worst of it.

In my experience, new cars can do a LOT of damage to our old trucks if they're going fast enough. R.I.P. old trucks... This is my Scout after a 94 Toyota Camry hit me doing 45 mph.

Re: K20 suburbans

It most likely will get totaled. A coworkers 90 Burb got hit far less hard than that and was totaled by a long shot.

I would look for a 2-wd half ton and swap all your 3/4-ton 4x4 parts onto it.

If you are lucky the frame is not damaged too badly and can be repaired if it is. The 3/4-ton frames are thicker to handle the extra load and it would be far easier to just swap bodies rather than do a 4x4 conversion to a 2-wd chassis.

There's a Scout almost Identical to that one (except not crunched) around the corner from my house, I've always loved those things. sorry for your loss.

Re: K20 suburbans

I just read through this and was wondering why it wouldn't be repairable.I'm glad it's working out.I have a '91 (last year) with 6.2/4L80E and love it.I was making a left turn on a green arrow.I had stopped on a yellow light and sat through the whole cycle,so I was first in line.I started into the intersection and just began to cross into the opposite lane when the fool across from me decided he'd take off...huh?I stopped dead, braced myself, and had time to say,"Do you see me?Do you see me?",and BAM!!!! He ran his F150 full throttle into the left corner of my 'Burb. His air bag went off, truck pushed back 1/2 way to the windshield, steam flyin'...truck was totaled. My bumper got bent, fender bent a little, and 1/2 the grille busted out.I drove it off.I don't know what he was thinking.Wait,I know...he wasn't! (at least not until that bag was in his face ).I figure he was day dreaming and when he realized I was moving he just stomped it without looking at the light. He had all kinds of room to steer around me,my tire had just crossed the center and there were two lanes. It's like he was still day dreaming. You'd think is he was looking out his windshield he would have seen me

That's great to hear!!! Are they going to fix it for you? Or are you going to get it back from them after them totaling it out?

And just out of curiosity... where exactly is that Scout? Never hurts to go look at them...

Angry Re: K20 suburbans

well guys, it seems as though the war has just begun, we called the body shop to see how the progress was and they said they were still tracking down parts, this was about three weeks after the wreck. after another week we got a call from the insurance company, they're gonna total it. their offer, $1200. they haul off the beast. everything on here thats 3/4 ton 4x4 has an asking price of at least $2000 for junk

by florida law, if it's totaled, it's no longer road worthy, period. doesn't matter if you do a frame off resto, it can't be tagged.

any one know where I can get a K20 suburban for $1200??? in good running condition with a fairly strait body and a decent interior? I think liberty mutual needs to share what their smoking.

I'm not gonna put it on some platform and try to talk it up like it's perfect, because the trucks not perfect by any means, but $1200 is an insult. I can't find a K20 Suburban anywhere. I see K10's and C20's, but not K20's. and definitely not for $1200.

Re: K20 suburbans

fight for sure
It took three weeks and a few offers before i said yes
but they were also paying my rental and storing the truck at the body shop
so it was costing them daily....

well, we had a rental, but when they declared the vehicle totaled, they took it back 3 days later. and they weren't paying storage at the body shop when it was there (I asked them before I removed it from their premises.)

they won't win.

Re: K20 suburbans

Mine was perfect in my eyes lol
makes your mint
I'd add up expenses, time and money spent
showing how you looked for a replacement
my company seemed to change tune when i said the replacement had to be certified
as was mine when hit
i sent links to all trucks i found in my province,
anything close "style wise"
as long as it was gas,4x4,and was not modified.
and finished with "find me something else then"
don't give in, hold out if you can ,they may want to finish up the year and close the file
