Re: Highlander Paint

Using Chipflyers data site, i'm learning the SPID is from a 127.0 w/base which i assume is lwb and 115 is SWB?
I'm guessing i got the shaft. Funny wait forever to find that exact truck and its wrong.

Re: Highlander Paint

I have a '72 custom deluxe, two tone, with many (if not all) of the features found on the base level Highlanders. I also have the original order sheets that came from the dealer complete with the prices. The truck was purchased with the black\gray plaid seat. My spid lists "custom trim combination". so my question is " was it possible to order all this individually including the plaid seats without being a Highlander?

Re: Highlander Paint

^ That's a good question and something I always wondered.

I guess no moa's truck is a Group A Highlander that had Turbo-Hydramatic,P/S,and A/C ordered. Makes no sense since the whole point of the Highlander Promotional package was a cut in price for options...or to get a plaid seat. It would have been cheaper to get Package B and also get tilt. I guess we don't really know what's going on since there was some swapping going on. Maybe it did have tilt, which is an option we can't see,but it was removed. Then,it would be a Group C.

Knowing what I know now that the truck was "redone" at some point, they very easily could have removed the tilt column when the cab was changed from LWB to SWB.

The question is was it on the SPID at this point. Here's a picture of a Highlander (at least it's a Custom Deluxe w/Monte Carlo wheelcovers) and Camper mirrors. This would be an exception to the package since Below Eye Lines were part of the package. This shows there could be exceptions. I guess you'd still save money on all the more expense options included even after paying for mirrors you didn't get as well as for the individual optional Camper mirrors. They didn't cost that much.

Re: Highlander Paint

I don't know, i'm going to put in a tilt column, as i'm a fat guy. lol

You wouldn't have a pic of what the seat would look like pattern wise? I want to put in the correct cover if i can find one.

And just one of the truck for memory's sake. I miss looking at that thing:

Re: Highlander Paint

I found a 1972 Suburban at a local pick and pull recently. I got a bunch of parts including the glove box door. Here is the spid and a picture of the rear seat. Interesting twist is it did have the door edge guards including the third door. I would have loved to find this Suburban before it went to the bone yard.

Re: Highlander Paint

I had a 72 custom deluxe/10.it was medium blue with white top and only upper trim. The inside was just like Tims,blue/white plaid seat, parchment door panels and visors, black dashpad and carpet. It had ac but no tilt and the highlander was on the spid.I have a set of buckets with the white blue/white plaid seat that are highlander and original.

No,Custom Deluxe wasn't offered on Blazers. They were either base trim or CST. So,the Highlander package was offered on the CST. That's where the plaid buckets come from.,AFAIK. I don't think buckets were available with Custom Deluxe on pickups.
