Re: whats the question you get asked most about your truck?

FLINT70STEP, I feel your pain! I had to cut off the old muffler just to get the ol motor to breath just so it would run. I get that question a lot. Yours may be that loud on purpose but I get weary of explaining why mine is the way it is.

"What year is it?" 1971.

"Is it a short bed?" No, it's a long bed.

"Oh, well, I like the short bed." Yeah, well, a long bed is more useful!

"But they are harder to park." I have no problem parking!

What's a young guy like you (I'm 37) doing driving an old truck like that? Also, "Is that Roy's truck?" My truck belonged to my wife's grandfather who passed in 1993. He was an old-timer that many people in the community knew well and remember fondly.

Yeah it's crazy! Normally I don't mind and explain why there is no roof. But every once in awhile you run into that guy who argues with you and insists that it's cut off. Very frustrating

Re: whats the question you get asked most about your truck?

When will it be finished? ...... I dont think they're ever "finished"
Why would they make a bed longer than 8'? ...... (then go into the "slide-in camper fad" story)
Wow! They had AC and cruise control back then?

Re: whats the question you get asked most about your truck?

I had a gentleman at a gas station (he was driving a z06) ask me, how did you find one in that condition? I told him this truck started out as a $1,500.00 beater. I was thinking to myself, I could build eight of my trucks for the price he paid for that z06! cheers, Pat
