Re: Windshield washer not pumping water..

I think the next thing I need us a reservoir that will actually hold something more than a pee squirt. Maybe something from a ford van or something.

Mid 90s C/K1500. Very easy mod, about $5 bucks at your local pick a part.

Re: Windshield washer not pumping water..

If you're not worried about originality, go with what the others have said above. I particularly like the S10 jug approach (if not described above, it's common, search for it).

I'm about to remove my entire center stack or whatever it takes in an AC cab truck because my brand new one isn't working either.

They really put these motor/pump units in an asinine place. I think in '73 (or by the 80s anyway) they went to the engine side of the firewall finally.

I guess at least it's a vacuum operated system!

Re: Windshield washer not pumping water..

The S10 pump/bottle is a great, cheap, and easy mod that will work really well.

Re: Windshield washer not pumping water..

I used an Anco pump and hooked the red up to the yellow wire and the black to the middle wire on this switch and it doesn't work. I know the pump works because I tested it.

Re: Windshield washer not pumping water..

I always have the internal battle between using original parts vs. convenience/efficiency. Ive found those original washer units to be extremely fussy and prone to fail (x3). If another one s**ts the bed, I'm not digging behind the dash horror show again and removing all the a/c crud etc. Going with a newer style unit.

Re: Windshield washer not pumping water..

Jonnyc10 I sent you a private message. Use the harness at the pump, not the switch.

Re: Windshield washer not pumping water..

To Linus6129
I'm sorry, but I'm not following you. My 68 Chevy C10 wiper/washer motor has one terminal with a light blue and Yellow wire that the yellow wire also jumps to another connector that has a dark blue wire. There is also another single connector with a black wire. Are you saying 1 of this wires is a switched ground wire that I can run to my new electric pump? When I put a meter on the black wire terminal I have voltage that fluctuates with the motion of the wiper.

Re: Windshield washer not pumping water..

So if you put one of these newer external pump jugs in (like the Mid 90s C/K1500) do you have to dig in the dash and bypass the old pump water lines? I get you need to re-route the power lines.

Yes, if the pump is directly attached to the jug you will no longer have a suction line but you will need to re-route new discharge lines from the pump to your nozzles. Probably needs to be done anyway as most of the time the lines are hard and/or cracked. I think the hose size is 5/32" and available at most auto parts stores.
