Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Well to all who have a slight intrest in this build, it is not dead. I am waiting on the weather to warm up a bit since I am currently with out a garage. Only parts left to order for the motor/tranny is a stall converter and my boost gauge. If the weather is good this weekend I am hoping to get the motor out and to my buddies shop to take it apart and rebuild.

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

I like the rims myself, the only problem is with a 4" drop in the rear I have some issuse with the 315/60/r15 rubbing on the fender lip. The back spacing is off a little bit. I can raise the rear an inch and so I will see if that takes care of that issue, and I would like to run a narrower front tire then what is currently on there. I love the star type pattern and looking for something with a similar design.

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Well I got the motor out yesterday. I was going to take a bunch of pics, but the weather started to turn for the worse so I had to get it out fast. Tomorrow I am going to break down the motor, and will be sure to take a lot of pics of that.

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

OK a few pictures, The first one is my friends Chevelle, it runs 10.8s in the 1/4 thanks to his 520 Big Block and he can cruize it around town if he really wants to. The second is his wifes 65 mustange, It just took first runner up at our local indoor winter car show. The mess around it is because of the drywall we were doing, no the car was not in there while we were hang rock. The last two are the lil blower just sitting on my motor. We got it rebuilt and found a couple things from the PO. It has four bolt mains, The balancer is for a 305 so I am changing that out. I had a broken valve spring on the intake valve on #4 cylinder. Bore looked ok. For got to take pics of the break down. So I will have pic of the rebuilt carb and motor later tonight hopefully.

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Things are not going well, the dip stick tube broke off, and while try to get it out a large peice fell into the oil pan so I had to take the pan back off. Then I was putting on my set of M/T valve covers I broke a bolt there, so we had to drill and take that out. I did manage to get my stall converter in with any trouble. I got my coil, and boost gauage installed. So I hope with any luck I will have the motor bolt back into the truck tomorrow. Murph's Law was in full affect

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

You will be a lot happier with that 144 on the 350 than a 406 anyways. My brother tried to put a 144 just like that on a 383 and B and M or whoever make the blowers for them (it has been a while back so I cannot recall) told me that in order to push very much boost you have to wind it to the moon. If I recall correctly something like 18,000 RPM at 6,000 engine RPMs!!!!! They aren't turbos and cannot handle that kind of speed. I like those rear tires btw. Always liked this body style.

Re: Project: BLOWNUP

Well a update, the motor is in, and I all I have left to do is put on the new starter, fill with fluids and bolt on the blower and drop the dist in. Couple pics of the blower on the motor here, i was bending up the hard fuel line and seeing if I would have any clearance isssues, it looks like I am gonna have to switch from a 4in to a 3in air filter and I should clear fine. I also have a pic for the old and new stalls.
