Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

I rotate my time between Germany and the US and here I've driven an Audi A4 wagon to 140mph and a BMW 1 series to 120mph.

Speed is seen often here and the drivers know how to drive so you don't get the idiots hanging out in the left lane.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

In my '84 short box? Pulled 130 mph in 2nd gear. I've been up to 140 mph in a couple caprice classic 9c1's that i've owned. Never went any faster than that because they got really loose at 140mph. My short box has yet to have hit top speed nor will it ever because their is no need to go that fast.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

When I was younger, my 72 chevelle pulled hard to 90 until I realized the tires were probably original. (I'm 35) I think about 110 in my dads lifted 79 4x4 chevy. After we got married, we had a nondescript, 92 Nissan maxima. Surprisingly fast. It was weird, it was stiff and wandered at lower speed, but once you got over 70 it would suck to the ground, straight as an arrow. 100+ was a daily thing. Was passing a group of cars on my way home one day and it pulled hard to 140. After that the needle was buried. I don't do that anymore. I'm enjoying my insurance being reasonably cheap. I would love to get on a track though.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

Well, what does it mean when the needle wraps back to zero in a 77 chevy 2wd? That's the fastest I've been in a truck,

And another time, the speedo was way off, so we started counting mile marker signs. After we counted 2 mile marker signs in 52 seconds....a few times, we finally confirmed our time/speed.

Honest and not smart, I know but you asked.

The OP did it on an oval track I believe, so it wasn't like he was on a back road or a public highway.. Is 110mph really that big of a deal???!!! The people unhappy about it claim that the car was not built for it, and with the years of (assumed) wear, it could very well fall to pieces at such a "high" speed.... Personally, I have driven my 69 and 82 with all of their original components in excess of 100mph and wasn't worried about anything other than a speeding ticket!!!

So anyways, what's the fastest your truck has gone?! And were you scared for your life?!!!!! lol!
Show these guys your differential.....

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

The fastest I have been in my 69 c-10 is about 90mph.

My old 68 camaro would run 145 in the 1/4 mile.

I have been 175 mph on a suzuki hayabusa.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

Have been over 150mph many many times on 2 different street bikes I had when a stupid kid, since then everything I have had has had low gears so no real speeding anymore, but as mentioned kind of cool when totally clear to see how qiuck the speed limit comes up.

hahahaha that is true. even the 71 vette handled like a pos at those speeds. you had big acorns to drive that a vette that fast back then. going fast in a dodge or plymouth took some courage. they blew the doors off many chevys and fords just before their doors fell off hahaha

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

Back when I was in HS, I had my 72 GMC up to past 100 (probably 105) about 11:00 at night with more pedal to go. Then I started thinking about hitting a deer and slowed down.

Now that I'm older I don't worry about going fast on the roads anymore, however I did have my 69 up to about 85 the other day on the interstate (mistakenly....the speedo is way off, showed 55). I'm kinda surprised it would go that fast since the tbi engine seems to be a turd.

In my 68, the most I've been is maybe 80, but that's about it.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

I rode in a 71 Challenger RT at over 140mph and it did not feel safe at all even compared to an 81 Vette I had, which still isn't that great over 120mph.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

Somewhere around the letter P of mph in the c10 Maybe just H. Smooth as glass. 120 in the longbed, it's way less comfortable at that speed than the '72, plus the whole fear of the driveshaft exploding. Both lowered with tight suspension and good brakes. Pegged speedo (160) as a passenger in two ls1 4th gen birds, 130 with me driving. Those cars make 160 seem like a reasonable cruising speed with how controlled they are.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

I have buried the speedo in everything I own. k10's usually around 90 ish. My Dakota goes well past 125, haven't gps'ed it. Was in a vette one time, quit looking at speedo when I seen 205 go by.

Yup! With the stock speedo in my '72 GMC I was going "H" in the MPH at the bottom.

Re: What is the fastest you have driven in your truck?

I went 118 in a 1980 Buick Regal with a motor out of firebird forumal, I believe it was a 300.
In my 1970 C10 I did about 125, and was to young and stupid to be scared.
