Shoot, I call my SUV a truck, because it is. Full frame, based on a truck, and is registered as a truck.

I've been an electrician for 30+ years, I have NEVER had to change the MOTOR oil in an electric motor.

According to http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/truck The one of the definitions of truck (noun) is:

f : an automotive vehicle with a short chassis equipped with a swivel for attaching a trailer and used especially for the highway hauling of freight; also : a truck with attached trailer

To add to all the confusion.. A lot of "semi" truckers don't call them semi's or truck, but rather tractor - trailors.

AND.... to settle the motor/engine debate (well, who am I kidding, this really won't 'settle' it)

That's crazy talk! Out on the big road its "big trucks" and "large cars" (for the ones that have been tuned/turned up!)

If you refer to another big truck as a 'tractor-trailer' on the cb they'll call you a greenhorn or even worse, accuse you of driving for schneider, jb hunt or swift!

Terminology is different from region to region.
When I was in Europe, the Dutch mechanic told me to pull my "car" into the shop bay.
It was a 5 ton Army truck with a 25 foot boom on the back! Oh well...

It really makes no difference to me about the whole Pick-up or truck thing. What really bothers me is when someone says nice car!?!? I find myself always turning around to see if I am indeed standing in front of my TRUCK or sombody elses car! Has anybody else experienced this?

I call my truck a truck, if you want me to help you move, you will call it a truck as well...

I actually will use Pickup as well, because there's just something women like about a pickup man...

I have always considered a Semi to be a tractor trailer... My grandfather and a few of my uncles were "truck Drivers" at various Points in their lives, and they always referred to their Semi as the tractor... that is when it did not have the trailer attached... They would call the combo a truck.
