Re: 513chopshop's bagged 1956 3100 build.
I'm not having to run drop spindles since I kept the step up from the subframe when I clipped it. Doin that also sets the motor higher ad feels up the huge engine bay on these trucks a lil.

Re: 513chopshop's bagged 1956 3100 build.
How about some pictures of the big back window conversion?
I'm interested in how you matched the paint. Wonderful job you cannot tell it was a small window and the paint on the other cab was different.

Re: 513chopshop's bagged 1956 3100 build.
Quote:
The pics shows a black/red reference line where we cut both cabs ( along the bottom body line below the window, just behind the door jam, and drilled the factory rivets from the drip rails). That cut being done on the inside and outside of the cab. I kept the top section of the small window due to a rusty donor cab in that area (coincidence that it worked out to be in the usable spot). The big window section was then matted with the og cab and (patiently) welded solid. With a little bondo I was able to get it back straight. The paint is a combo of spray bomb primer and house paint that matched the old faded red. Im extremely happy with the finished product its nearly impossible to tell it was changed. Sorry this is a long post but I hope it helps. I'd be happy to answer anymore questions. |
