Re: Parting out '74 4spd one ton dually

76on44s; the vent windows are in good condition. I'll attach a picture of them.

BlackhillsHD; as of right now I'm thinking of keeping the hyrdoboost in case I want to try PS/PB on one of my trucks; I'll let you know if I decide not to.

RPOZ11, I'll get them pulled off and check them out and get back with you. I think it's all there, including the washer assembly and tank.

Thanks

StreetCoupe; someone broke the corners off at the bottom, but otherwise it's in good shape. I'll attach a picture of it.

Bonuscab; no lights in the tailgate.

How much for the wiring harness shipped to 47586? Said it looked good so i should be able to use it to convert my 77 to all 74... Just curious about fuel/tach wiring.

Sorry for dropping the ball, I had to deal with relatives all week. I did get the wiper stuff and wiring pulled, and I'll get some shipping quotes later on today. Thanks for your patience.

Re: Parting out '74 4spd one ton dually

RPOZ11, I have all the wiper stuff taken off, although the original metal wiper blades weren't on the truck when I got it. I attached a picture. Not sure on wiper motor condition; worked to some degree, but not sure how good it is. Didn't think to test washer function; plastic cover was cracked and glued at one point. One of the wiper arms has some of the plating or whatever coming off at the base, and both have some slight pitting. Linkage is good, just needs to be oiled up. How's $45 + shipping for everything sound?

79Betty, the main harness has more damage than I thought. I counted seven cut wires-to-nowhere (not counting the one for the marker lights I had to cut), one splice, and the big thing was that two wires from the stop/turn/tail part of the harness had shorted out and melted part of their plug. The fuse block and most of the rest is good, but I would guess this would be more useful to repair another harness (or to use for the fuse panel and good remaining plugs). Let me know if you still want the dash cluster printed circuit, I'll toss out $10 + shipping on that. (If you still want the main harness I'll say $20 OBO for it.)

BIGCHEVYMAN, the rest of the body is rough (and now somewhat incomplete), and I am planning on using the nice driveline/suspension under my '63 or '65 one ton. I can't imagine that the remainder would be worth the drive from Tennessee. If you are still interested, name some stuff and I'll get some extra pictures and check it out more. I have a bill of sale; GA doesn't req. titles on '85 an older stuff--FWIW I'm 99% sure you could get a title with that (haven't needed to look into it, personally).

Re: Parting out '74 4spd one ton dually

66Sub - Thank you for checking it all out for me. The headlight and taillight wiring harnesses I'm good on as mine are... Manageable. (nicest term I could think of) haha. As long as the In cab wiring harness is good and you'd be willing to sell the Gauge cluster housing and printed circuit and all with I'd be willing to pay. So you would say $30 for wiring front to back with gauge cluster n backing circuit?

Re: Parting out '74 4spd one ton dually

Wow, back from the dead! Just thinking I needed to get back on this...

Like I said, the in-cab harness has damage; the major damage being the melted connector for the stop/turn/tail, etc. If you would be splicing on the needed connector(s) from your old harness to make a good one it would probably be great for that, but like I said; the stop/turn/tail plug is partially melted. I'll attach a picture.

Do you mean just the cluster housing with the printed circuit, or the complete cluster with gauges? If you don't want the gauges $30 sounds great. (I am planning on using the gauges in a project later on.)

Let me know.

Re: Parting out '74 4spd one ton dually

Well everyone wins, I don't need the gauges (i'm hoping all mine are good since i can't test really) i can splice a turn signal switch in, the problem with mine is it was removed during the winter and almost every wire split/cracked/broke. If that is the only bad one i'll look over the rest and take care as needed. How do the headlight, and wiper switch look? If possible could you throw them in? Thanks.

Re: Parting out '74 4spd one ton dually

Sorry for the delay. $30 sounds good if you want it, and I'll try to check the switches in a day or two (can't remember how rough they are); at any rate, I'll also throw those in if you want them.

I'll attach a couple pictures of the harness damage; I don't think it's too bad, but I'll let you decide yourself. Besides the unusable one, one other connector got hot and you can tell it softened the insulation on a couple wires, but it seems fine besides that, and the wires are not bare; you can just see that the insulation began to soften/melt. There is one splice on a large (purple) wire, but it's in a very easy spot to solder back and heatshrink. Another (red) wire close to the fuseblock isn't cut, but the insulation was damaged, so it should be wrapped up. Besides that, a couple other small wires need the ends put back on them and/or to be spliced back together (one dark one was to the cab marker lights).

I think it would be good to use to replace your damaged harness if you're willing to reuse some of your connectors, but like I said, I'll let you judge that. Let me know.

Re: Parting out '74 4spd one ton dually

There are a couple old pictures of them. They are pretty decent, but some knucklehead screwed a few drywall screws into the perimeter of them. Shipping shouldn't be much if you want them; make me an offer. I'll be able to pull them off and check shipping Sunday.
