Re: Question about CHEVROLET hood letters

Hi, been looking on how do make my holes for the Chevrolet letters on my hood. Did a search and came up with this forum. Was wondering if Dan would rent me his template? I have a aftermarket hood that doesn't have any holes in it so I would have to find out how to align it up to make them come out right. Any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks ,Lee

Hey Lee.

I sent the template back to Dan. I don't think he gets on here much. From what I know he was planning on making it one piece instead of two. I'm sure he would help you out. He is a great guy! It worked perfect for me although I had preexisting holes to get an actual placement. This may have to be taken under consideration. Maybe he modified it to go from end to end or directly in the middle. What ever I can do to help, let me know! If you don't hear from him. I will get with my new neighbor! He has a hood with the holes and we will make you one. It probably won't be as nice as Dan. I'm still amazed by that template he made!

Re: Question about CHEVROLET hood letters

I am still on here at least once a week or so, just creepin' in the shadows. Like terrance said I was going to make this a one piece fixture but then I realized that would be a killer on shipping if I were to market this. I decided that it would be best for shipping purposes to have 3 pieces, one small center piece to mark the "R" on the center ridge, then the two existing pieces could align with one hole from the center and the hood edge just as terrance did. I hope to get time to work on this when I go back to work in January. Merry Christmas! (im a little early).

I have been a bit busy, I will bring the templates to work next week and work on the designs. Hopefully I can get it knocked out pretty quick..

Re: Question about CHEVROLET hood letters

try finding a damaged hood from the wreckers and cut the front section out and then use it as a template to mark where you want to drill

Re: Question about CHEVROLET hood letters

Glad to see someone kept the letters on their hood.

I hope to sell my 1967 hood this summer and I still have the letters to go with it.
