I had a Great Dane too, and he was huge. He would scare the hell out of people just by his size, but he was just a big softy.

I got him to scare people away, which he did, along with the Doberman I had, but with as much dog food as they ate, it might have been cheaper to let someone steal my TV.

And I know what you mean about that tail. He would wag his tail and snap you right in the family jewels like a bull whip.

Re: Direct TV may not like me now

Not so long ago I was having, who I assume were, three very well dressed Jehowits ladies in a slick black Suburban dropping in my driveway wondering if I had a moment to talk. It was perfect. They came by three times and they were probably the only times that year I was in an incredible hurry. I try not to ever be in a hurry, if I can help it. Bt there I was scurrying out the door with my head reeling over how can I get there on time and what not to forget and BAM!! Three well dressed....

I had no problem shutting them down and gettin' my arse on down the road. That was that.

We have a good many Mennonite folks in this area and they drop by every other Sunday, religiously (<pun). They just stick some reading material on or around your door, or hand it to you if you're there. Just a hello/thanks and they move on, unless you want to chat. The elder guy farms a lot pieces of land around here and we've talked about that and the weather of course. What they do doesn't bother me. I think it's kinda neat. It's an American thing.

I say no to any door to door people and have chased halfwits away with a bat if they don't understand not answering the door means leave me alone.

Re: Direct TV may not like me now

Rough crowd here. How do your computers, radios, and TVs survive with all the advertising stuffed in your face? These people are just trying to make a living. I'm sure it's not what they would rather be doing. How do you handle car salesmen or your insurance broker trying to suck all they can out of your wallet? This thread started out showing us a case of non-observant robot-like behavior that people are falling into, and more as humor than anything else. Some of you better hope I or anyone I care about doesn't have a reason to be knocking on your door. This can go either way. C'mon people, love they neighbor. That doesn't mean you should hug everyone you see, but it should help keep you from running someone down with a bat or threatening with a gun for knocking on your door. Try to live with less hate.

Re: Direct TV may not like me now

Im nice to anyone that comes to my door but that rarely happens out in the sticks where Im living but I do have my pistol on my side just in case .I live in a pretty nice area but we do sometimes have some Thiefs in the area .Our area neighbors watch each others place and if we see something that just dont seem right we check em out .Most of us are on acreage except for a couple of high end subdivisions are 2 acre tracts and we watch for them too.
